BLA disowns threats to Gwadar school on co-education

The Baloch Hal News
QUETTA: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has categorically rejected reports attributed to it for threatening a private school in Gwadar against imparting co-education.

News Network International (NNI), a leading Pakistani news agency, on Saturday quoted Mirak Baloch, a spokesman of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), an underground armed group striving for an independent Balochistan, disassociating his organization from a news report that a private school in Gwadar had been threatened to stop co-education.

The director of the private school complained that he was continuously receiving letters identifying the senders as the representatives of some Baloch armed groups who wanted him to stop imparting co-education among its students.

The BLA spokesman said there was no denying the significance of women working with men side by side. There is a need to impart contemporary education among the Balochs to develop them socially, politically and economically. The spokesman urged the Baloch women to actively participate in the Baloch resistance movement and acknowledged their significant role in the national development. He regretted that the current class-based education system enforced in Pakistan was unlikely to end the educational backwardness of Balochs.
