Occupation day observed across Balochistan and Karachi, several arrested

Occupied Balochistan: Baloch Nation has expressed their hatred and anger toward Pakistan in a Balochistan wide wheel jam and shutter down protest here on Saturday, 27 March 2010. The Baloch pro-Independence National Unity party BNF (Baloch National Front) had given the call for strike to protest the illegal occupation of Balochistan on 27 March 1948. The wheel jam and shutter down was observed in all town and cities of Balochistan. Baloch political activists tied black ribbons on their arms and black flags were hoisted on houses and buildings from corner to corner Balochistan.

Some riots have been reported after the Pakistani security forces tried to provoke the peaceful protesters. Few government offices/buildings were reportedly burnt in Mand, Quetta and some areas of district Kech. In several places the FC resorted to violence and beaten up Baloch political activists, at least three activists have reportedly been injured due to baton charge on peaceful protest rallies. Dozens of workers including three BSO-azad members have been detained for allegedly pelting stones on vehicles.

Meanwhile thousands of people took to streets in Karach’s Baloch populated region. The streets echoed with chanting against Pakistan and in favour of Baloch freedom fighters. BNF general secretary Abdul Wahab Baloch, Haji Abdul Razaq of BNM and Jawad Baloch of BSO-azaad led the rally in Karachi. The participants of the rally chanted “Long live Balochistan and death to Pakistan” slogans while marching from different streets in Baloch populated areas in Karachi.

In addition Baloch Bar Association has completely boycotted the court and supported the BNF protest against illegal and forced occupation of Balochistan in 1948. Baloch lawyers said that they will continue to support the just struggle of Baloch people to regain their independence. “Freedom is Baloch people’s democratic and human right”, maintained the lawyers.

Baloch political prisoners also observed black day in different prisons in Balochistan. Wahid Qamber Baloch, leader of Baloch Watan Movement Mr Abdul Qadir Baloch and Chakar Qamber Baloch of BSO-azaad along with their pathun inmates observed black day in district Jail Quetta and vowed to continue the struggle for liberation.

The Baloch in Diaspora has also observed the occupation day in Sweden, Canada, America, Norway, South Africa and UAE to show their solidarity with the Baloch Nation. Baloch in the United Kingdom will be protesting in front of BBC world service tomorrow 28 March 2010 to record their protest and to commemorate the Pakistani military incursion against the independent state of Balochistan on 27 March 1948.

BNF has thanked the Baloch Nation, transport owners and business owners for their co-operation, keeping their businesses shut and vehicles off the road. However Baloch parties strongly condemn the so called free media of Pakistan for the complete black out of the wheel jam and shutter down protest in Balochistan and Karachi.
