QUETTA – Two personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) and five alleged militants were killed while seven people including six FC personnel sustained injuries in two separate incidents of firing and bomb blasts in Kech and Kalat districts of Balochistan on Wednesday.
According to sources, personnel of FC cordoned off the house of Balochistan National Party leader Ayub Gichki located in Satellite Town area of Turbat early in the morning and asked the inmates to come out from the house.
Getting no response, personnel of Frontier Corps allegedly opened firing on the house resulting in heavy exchange of fire which took place between FC and inmates, sources said, adding, that alleged militants hurled hand grenades on the FC personnel while FC also fired mortar shells.
Six people including one FC man including two sons of Ayub Gichki identified as Murad Jan and Zubiar Gichki while three others including Hasil, Hamal and Majid hailing from different towns of Kech were killed in the firing. Sources said that the house badly damaged due to heavy firing.
Sources said that more than two dozens heavy blasts were heard in the Turbat City which created panic and fear among the people.
FC sources said that a patrolling party of FC was passing from Airport Road of Turbat when unidentified people opened indiscriminate firing on it. FC personnel also retaliate the firing due to which the militants took refuge in a nearby house.
Sources said that FC cordoned off the area and asked the militants to surrender. The militants instead of surrendering opened indiscriminate firing and hurled several hand grenades on FC while latter also retaliated.
The firing between FC personnel and militants lasted for about several hours as a result 5 militants and two FC personnel died on the spot.
The sources said that security forces also recovered arms and ammunition including Kalashnikovs, pistol, 7MM rifles and explosives from the house.
