Islamabad, Nov 27 (IANS) Pakistan's main opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Saturday submitted an adjournment motion in parliament against the alleged presence of US security forces in the country's southwestern Balochistan province.
The adjournment motion is likely to be taken up for debate in the next session if allowed by the speaker. PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif said that 'the reports of presence of American forces in Balochistan are against the sovereignty of the country'.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the US Embassy in Islamabad has 'denied presence of US security forces in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan'.
'There have only been routine visits of US teams for coordination between the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and Pakistani military,' he said.
Earlier, the Washington Post had claimed in an article that US had sought permission for drone strikes in Balochistan to target suspected Al Qaeda hideouts. The Pakistani government has vehemently denied that any such request could be granted.
