QUETTA: Balochistan’s first ever elected chief minister and veteran nationalist leader Sardar Attaullah Mengal has said he is opposed to the use of violence to resolve political disputes and killing of the Punjabis in Balochistan is wrong.
In an exclusive interview with BBC Urdu Service, the senior Mengal said he was opposed to the killing of Punjabis in Balochistan and government should take action against “these boys” who randomly kill three to four Punjabis in Balochistan.
” This (killing of Punjabis) is wrong. I am against it. No matter who is behind it, the government should take these boys on trial who kill three to four Punjabis every day,” said the Mengal sardar whose son Akhtar Mengal, a former chief minister, heads Balochistan’s largest nationalist party, the Balochistan National Party.
He said whisking away people, torturing them and then throwing their dead bodies on the roads saying that it was a gift of Eid was not the civilized way of behavior of any government.
“Baloch genocide has been accelerated,” he said, ” in the past, one person was hardly killed but now four to five activists are being killed regularly,” he remarked.
He confessed that Baloch nationalists’ behavior and mistakes had caused some damage but recommended the chief minister to count his share of mistakes too.
