Journalists staged a protest demonstration against the attack on fellow journalist house

Occupied Balochistan,CHATHAR: Reportedly unknown assailants opened an indiscriminate firing on the house of journalist Muhammad Luqman, Chairman, district Chathar Press Club. Following the attempt, the journalists called upon an immediate meeting presided by Khalil ullah Khosa, condemning the firing on the house of the chairman Chathar press club.

Speaking to the meeting abdul Baqi, Secratery general Chathar press club, Senior vise president hafeez ullah bahrani, junior vise president fakhruddin banghar, deputy general secretary Amanullah Khosa, Press Secretary Dur Muhammad Mitha, Hafeezullah Sadkani, Chairman Muhammad Luqman bhangar, Vise Chairman Mir Muhammad and Member Niaz Ahmed, severely criticized the firing attempt on the house of Muhammad Luqman Banghar, Chairman Press club Chathar, asking the Government of Balochistan to take tangible measures to ensure the security of the journalists in Balochistan and to take strict actions against the assailants.

In another demonstration in front of Pashin press club, social workers and journalists shouted slogans against government and state functionaries for their weak rit of administration, condemning the attempt.“The assailants fled the scene after carrying out the firing attempt on the house of Muhammad Luqman, Chairman Chathar press club, the journalists are being targeted in the wake of writing the truth, this shows that the journalists are insecure in Balochistan due to weak security measures by the provincial government” Malik SaadullahTareen, Chairman/President Council of all Balochistan press clubs, told reporters.

The journalist of Balochistan are not safe because they are exposing the Pakistani state crimes. In the last several years, journalists in Balochistan have faced special risks and found it increasingly difficult to work.

Previously a journalist was attacked by Pakistani forces while carrying out his professional duties in the Balochistan port city of Gwadar. Behram Baluch, bureau chief of the Urdu language Daily Intekhab, was beaten up by the mostly Punjabi and Mohajir Anti Terror Force. Another victim is Asaaps newspaper editor and Baloch writer Jan Mohammad Dashti was attacked and critically injured by Pakistani forces in Quetta.A young journalist of Gwadar’s 25 year old Lala Hameed Baloch was abducted and tortured to death by Pakistani security forces. Local journalists believe his critical reporting about the Pakistani authorities and his support for the movement were the motive for his abduction and murder. They claim Pakistan's security officials were involved in his murder.
