KECH: A central leader of the National Party (NP) and a former district Nazim of Kech (Turbat) District Maula Baksh Dashti was gunned down by unidentified persons on Sunday evening in his native district.

According to the details the senior NP leader and the former district Nazim was coming from a local village to Turbat city on his car along with some other friends when unidentified persons ambushed his car and fire several shots on Dashti. As a result, the former city Nazim was killed and two of his friends, Shaukat Baloch and Allah Baksh Baloch, received serious injuries.
The attackers, who had reportedly been hiding to shoot Mr. Dashti, managed to safely escape while riding a motorbike after murdering the Baloch nationalist leader.
Dashti was a central leader of the National Party and the news of his death spread across Kech district like a wild fire. Supporters of the National Party, while reacting to the news, shut down all local businesses in protest against the killing.
The causes of the murder could not be learnt nor has any group accepted responsibility for the shooting.
Balochistan Chief Minister, Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani has strongly condemned the killing of the National Party leader and issued special instructions to the concerned departments to catch the culprits.
No arrests could be made in connection to the murder of the ex-city chief.
His Nimaz-e-Janaza would be offered on Monday at around 4:00.
