Lawyers did not appear before the Balochistan High Court, sessions and local courts in order to register their protest for what they claimed killing of missing persons during their unlawful detention. All the court cases were adjourned for the next hearing.
The strike was observed in all the Baloch dominant districts including Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Sibi, Jaffarabad, Naseerabad, Kohlu, Turbat, Mand, Gwadar, Panjgur, Awaran and other areas.
According to statement issued here, the Baloch bar Association has strongly condemned the killing of Ashfaq Ahmed and Farooq Mengal whose dead bodies had been found from Quetta a day earlier on Monday.
Meanwhile relatives of other missing persons as they held a noisy protest demonstration in front of the Balochistan High Court. They shouted slogans against the judiciary for failure to recover the missing persons from official custody. They wanted to force the judiciary to take immediate steps to insure the safe and early recovery of Baluch forced-disappeared activists. Police had recovered the bodies of Farooq Lango and Ashfaq Mullazai on Monday from Killi Qambrani. They bullet riddled bodies were thrown to open for public consumption.
“I am afraid that they had killed my father as well,” said 15-year old Maharang, daughter of Abdul Ghafar Lango.
She said her father was whisked away from Karachi in 2009 and since then she does not know about her father’s whereabouts. “If my brother was involved in any crime he should be tried to court in a civilized manner because we, all the family members, are fed up with sleepless nights,” sister of Gaffar Lango told The Baloch Hal, removing her tears from her check. She said that no one is taking the issue seriously.
“If my brother was not traced during in a month, I will commit suicide,” she warned
The women and children were carrying placards and photographs of their close relatives who have been abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies and have been missing for years. They chanted slogans against the judiciary and secret agencies of Pakistan.
According to Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), an organization striving for the recovery of missing people, more than several thousand people are missing from Balochistan but on the contrary the Pakistani judicial commission prepared a list of 99 persons.
BHC expresses concern on killing of two missing persons
QUETTA: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Tuesday expressed serious concern over media reports of the killing of two young missing persons, Ashfaq Ahmed Mullahzai and Muhammad Farooq Mengal.
The bench consisting of BHC Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Muhammad Noor Miskanzai was hearing a petition filed by Ashfaq Ahmed’s father. The petitioner submitted that his son, Ashfaq Ahmed, a student of the Balochistan University, had been abducted by unidentified persons on May 28, 2010 and had been missing since the last two months. “We had issued a notice to the respondents and the date for hearing the case was fixed for August 3, 2010,” the bench remarked adding that “It was brought to our notice by the petitioner’s counsel Zahoor Baloch advocate that victim Ashfaq Ahmed, a student of the Balochistan University, had been found dead in the Kili Qambrani area in Shalkot Police Station precincts”. The petitioner’s counsel told the court that the body of Ashfaq Ahmed was found along with the body of another victim Muhammad Farooq Mengal and a petition CP No 356 of 2010 was filed afterwards.
Zahoor Baloch advocate also showed the court media reports published in various newspapers regarding the killing of the two youth. “ We are extremely perturbed with the deaths of Ashfaq Ahmed and Muhammad Farooq Mengal and the same are of great concern,” the bench remarked. The bench ordered the Shalkot police station house officer (SHO) to submit the complete record of the killings of the two youth, as their bodies were found within the precincts of the police station.
