Baluch Community in London to mark Baluch National Remembrance Day

London: Baluch, like many other nations, in their struggle for freedom and democratic rights have endured great losses. In their endeavour to defend their basic rights, protect their values as well as homeland, many have encountered and experienced the wrath of the occupying states.

As a result, many Baluch men, women and children in their struggle for their democratic rights including right to FREEDOM have been treated violently and inhumanly by the military and the intelligence services of these occupying states. The very harsh treatment of Baluch people is well recorded, particularly by states such as Pakistan and Iran.

Since the illegal occupation of Baluchistan, these states have been involved in the systematic imprisonment, torture, abduction and execution of the Baluch. Currently, thousands of Baluch are reported forcefully disappeared from Pakistani occupied Baluchistan; tens of thousands have been displaced. Similarly hundreds of Baluch have been executed by the Iranian regime in Western Baluchistan and several are on death row waiting to be executed.

To pay tribute to our fallen heroes and remember their sacrifices as well as to highlight the plight of those innocent men and women who are still facing the wrath of state in torture cells in both Iran and Pakistan, the Baluch community in London have decided to hold a day of remembrance. The 15th of July of every year is the date designated for the purpose of remembrance, to make sure that their sacrifice for our freedom and our nation has not been lost in vain.

The day is dedicated to Baluch Martyrs and Victims of State Terrorism. On this day there will also be an exhibition of pictures, names, and a brief description on the background of each victim. Also we will try to present an annual report on events that took place from 19 July 2009 to 18 July 2010.
