Baloch to get all rights soon, says Gilani


GWADAR (SANA): Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has declared that people of Balochistan would get their due constitutional, political, administrative and economic rights.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Labor Colony at here on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister said Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan is a step towards empowerment of the Baloch people.

He said in line with the vision of its founding leaders, the PPP is committed to empower people of Balochistan. He said the 1973 Constitution would be restored in its original form removing black laws and amendments introduced during dictatorial regime with a view to empowering the people and protecting their rights.

He said, “The government is pursuing the policy of national reconciliation and it was because of the politics of reconciliation and accommodation that we have been able to finalize the new NFC Awards.” He said the PPP having its roots in all the four provinces is genuinely a federal party and it would continue its struggle for rights of the people.

The Prime Minister referred to his earlier announcement of providing jobs to all graduates from Balochistan and said the provincial Chief Secretary told him that they have received about twenty thousand applications including three to four thousand from women of the province. He said this along with Benazir Income Support Program and other poverty alleviation schemes directed at empowerment of women would help ameliorate their lot.

The Prime Minister directed the Provincial Government to scrutinize all applications with due care to ensure that only those with genuine domicile and identity card of Balochistan are accommodated.

He aid matriculate from the province would be imparted technical skills so that they could find employment abroad.

The Prime Minister said a new labor policy would soon be announced to meet the present-day requirements.

He said the present government has also decided to give shares to the workers in privatization of the public sector entities.

The Prime Minister said the democratic forces and media have suffered a lot for democracy and we should not indulge in any thing that could be detrimental to democracy.

He categorically stated that the government would struggle for supremacy of the constitution, rule of law, promotion of democracy, safeguarding of rights of the people and strengthening of the institutions.

He said the country would make progress if all institution play their role while remaining within the ambit of the 1973 Constitution.

He said the present government has taken practical steps for welfare of the Baloch people and they have now realized that the Government was serious in its commitment to transform their life.

The Prime Minister directed Planning Commission and the provincial Government to coordinate in resolving the water problem in Gwadar as the Government wants to make it an international city.

He said it was to highlight the importance of this city that the meeting of the Federal Cabinet would be held tomorrow and the Chief Ministers would formally sign the 7th NFC Award.

Later talking to newsmen, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the present government is taking special measures for speedy and sustainable development of Balochistan to bring it at par with other provinces.

The 67 kilometer road has been completed at three year that would open new era of development in the region.

The Prime Minister said a number of projects have been launched for development of Balochistan that would boost economic activities.

Regarding Karachi incident he appealed people to show patience and remain peaceful as the terrorists want to disturb peace of the city. He said the strategy of terrorists is to work as speed breaker for progress of the country which would be foiled with the cooperation of the masses.

He said the government has full support of the nation including religious, political and military leadership in the war against terror and military is targeting their strongholds in Tribal Areas to flush them out at grassroots level.

Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said these elements are working on foreign agenda to destabilize the country. These have no religion or boundaries.

He paid rich tributes to the soldiers who laid their lives for saving the humanity and expressed the resolve to counter terrorism at all costs and eliminate terrorists.

Earlier in his welcome address Minister for Labor and Manpower Syed Khurshid Shah highlighted the on-going and future development projects of Workers’ Welfare Fund. He said the Fund has completed various schemes for the workers in housing, education and health sectors at a cost of over five billion rupees while twenty-four projects are underway that will be completed at a cost of about fourteen billion rupees. He said the Workers’ Welfare Fund has allocated 575 million rupees for various development schemes for workers in Balochistan.

Highlighting development projects in Balochistan, he said twenty-two housing, four education and forty-six health schemes have been completed in the province while seven housing projects for workers are underway in the province that would provide housing facilities to over five thousand workers.

He said that a new colony will be developed in Hub and Lasbela besides another housing colony for 650 mine workers in the province.

Syed Khurshid Shah said that the Labor Ministry will provide technical training to five thousand Baloch youth so that they can get honorable jobs.
