A young journalist from Balochistan has made some pertinent observations about the double standards of the Pakistani media when it comes to journalist lives in Occupied Balochistan and has expressed his anguish at the international apathy over the ongloing killings in Balochistan, where 10 Baloch writers and journalists were target killed by Pakistan military and intelligence services during the last one year.
The comments in the notable Baloch Hal webzine came in the wake of an international furore over the killing of Pakistani journalist Saleem Shahzad.
Even U.S. Secretary of State of Hilary Clinton condemned Shahzad's killings.
Baloch writers and intellectuals have welcomed the international outrage over Shahzad killing but are questioning why this is not happening in case of Balochistan and say this is mainly because the media in Balochistan is controlled by Pakistani colonialists who do not share the joys and sorrows of the Baloch people.
Since July last year, Pakistan military, security and intelligence services have killed nearly 200 key Baloch activists including writers, journalists, lawyers, poets, singers, scholars and students to crush the Baloch movement for independence from Pakistan.
Pakistan ambassador to the United States, Husain Haqqani, attended a condolence meeting for Shahzad at the National Press Club where the infamous Inter Services Intelligence was blasted by representatives of the Human Rights Watch, Committee to Protect Journalists and Reporters Without Borders.
On the other hand, Haqqani is known to have opposed meetings regarding the opngoing atrocities in Balochstan at U.S. think-tanks, including the United States Institute for Peace, Middle East Institute and Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
