Karachi: The Sayed Hashumi Reference Library’s Cabinet held an important meeting under presidency of Razman Bamarri on 19 June 2011 in Library Complex at Dehkan Garden, Malir. The Cabinet has decided to hold a memorial reference in respect of professor Saba Dashtyari on July 10, 2011 at 4pm o’clock in Siddque Village in Malir region of Karachi. Intellectuals and Professors from all walks of life will join the memorial meeting and shed light on Saba Dasthiyari’s struggle and Life.
Financial difficulties of the Library were also discussed in the meeting. The financial Secretary informed the Library cabinet that they don’t have adequate resources to run Library’s programme and educational work, apart from the membership fee which is only a small amount to fulfil the requirement of Library management. He also informed the Cabinet that “Shaheed Saba Dasthyari was supporting the library financially from his monthly salary and after his assassination the library doesn’t have enough resources to sustain our work like before that is why we urgently need to find new ways of supporting the library”.
The Cabinet member agreed to start a media campaign as well as to contact well-off Baloch individuals to acquire financial support for Library expenses. The Cabinet member has announced to give a fix monthly support to the Library. It has also been decided that financially well-off Baloch individuals will also be requested to pay a fix monthly amount to help the Library to continue its work. They said in the past Baloch institutions have been closed because of financial crisis. A committee under the leadership of Deputy General Secretary will visit different areas of Balochistan and inform people about the aims and objectives of the Library and ask them for financial support.
The library Cabinet has also decided to establish ‘professor Saba Dashtyari Desk, in the Library. Explaining the aim and objectives of establishing the new portions in the library in the name of “Saba Dashtyari Desk” the Press Secretary said that research papers and books from Shaheed Saba’s office in Balochistan University are the property of the Library according the will of Professor Ghulam Hussain Saba Dashtyari that is why the library has decided to keep his work in a different section to make it easy for those who wanted to write and research on the life and struggle of Shaheed Dashtyari.
All the member of Cabinet appreciated the suggestion of Press Secretary and agreed that a new department will be established in the library in the name of “Saba Dashtyari Chair”. A three member committee has been set up to complete this task.
