Balochistan freedom fighters ambush convoy of police chief, high civil officer - by Ahmar Mustikhan

Freedom fighters in restive Balochistan, scene of a bloody war of liberation, Saturday ambushed the convoy of the police chief and chief secretary, the highest bureaucrat installed by Islamabad.

A video posted on Youtube shows the official convoy passing through Bolan in the Baloch countryside when the sarmachars or freedom fighters associated with the Baloch Liberation Army opened fire upon it from the mountains.

The video footage shows the convoy coming to a grinding halt.

The ambush came on the third day of the extra-judicial killing of well-known Baloch intellectual Professor Sabah Dashtyari. Dashtyari was gunned down by a death squad sponsored by the Inter-Services Intelligence named Ansarul Islam.

There was no immediate news of any deaths or injuries.

Balochistan, the size of France, was granted independence separately from Pakistan and India on August 11, 1947 but the territory was occupied by Pakistan through an invasion on March 27 1948.


There have been five armed uprising against the Pakistani occupation and the present urpsing is in its sixth year. Thousands have perished and Pakistani security and intelligence services are conducting a scorched earth policy in Balochistan.

Since July last year Pakistan has extra-judicially killed 200 leading activists and leaders, including parliamentarians, lawyers, journalists, students, writers, singers, artistes and even common shopkeepers and shepherds. Most of the victims were first forcibly disappeared, tortured, killed execution style and their bodies dumped in the length and breadth of Balochistan.
