Baloch Barbar Killed, Four Injured in Panjgur, Awaran Attacks

QUETTA: A person was killed and five others, including four personnel of security forces, were wounded in two separate incidents of firing and remote controlled bomb attack in Panjgur and Awaran districts of Balochistan on Wednesday.

According to reports reaching here, unknown motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on a barber’s shop in Chitakkn Bazaar of Panjgur, a bordering town near Iran. Consequently, the barber who was identified as Abdul Aziz, a resident of Khuzdar district, died while another person, Naseem Baloch, a resident of Paroom township, received injuries in the attack. Assailants escaped from the site after opening fire on the shop.

Police rushed to the site after being informed about the incident and moved dead and injured to the hospital.

Police said that Abdul Aziz had been running a barber’s shop for the past 10 years and motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.

Police handed over body to heirs after completing legal formalities and started further investigation into the incident.

In another incident, four personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) were wounded in a remote controlled blast in Mashkay area of Awaran district.

Sources said that a convoy of security personnel was heading towards Khuzdar from Mashkay when explosives planted along the road exploded soon after vehicles of security personnel passed by. Resultantly, four security personnel received injuries in the blast who were rushed to hospital for treatment. Sources said that explosives were detonated through a remote controlled device.

Security personnel cordoned off the area after attack and started a search operation in the area to arrest accused persons. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

Meanwhile, Sarbaaz Baloch spokesman of banned outfit Baloch Republican Army (BRA) has claimed responsibility for blowing up 16-inch diameter gas pipeline supplying gas to Karachi at Taal, near Sindh- Balochistan bordering area.

Calling on a satellite phone from unspecified location he said that two towers of main transmission line in Sibbi and Lehri areas were also exploded by BRA fighters.
