Bugti Murder Case: BHC Asks for Arrest Warrants of Accused

Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, 79, former governor and twice-chief minister of Balochistan, was killed by Pakistan Army in a military operation on August 26, 2006.

QUETTA: Balochistan High Court (BHC) has ordered for production of warrant of arrest ofall accused nominated in murder case of Nawab Muhammad Akbar Khan Bugti.

A division bench of high court comprising acting Chief Justice Jamal KhanMandokhel and Justice Hashim Khan Kakar passed this order during hearing ofpetition of Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti against non-implementation of courtorders regarding arrest of accused here on Thursday.
Deputy Attorney General Malik Sikandar Advocate submitted reply in writing onbehalf of Federal Secretary Interior stating that interior ministry will takeaction for extradition of those accused that are currently in abroad followinga request by Balochistan government.

Interior Secretary had further stated that FIA has been directed for initiatingprocess for getting red warrants of accused from Interpol after such requestfrom provincial government.

Additional Advocate General Balochistan Nasrullah Achakzai submitted the reportof investigating team incorporating the statement of Maulvi Malook who had ledthe funeral prayer of Nawab Bugti.

In his statement Maulvi Malook said he had not seen the body which was broughtin coffin for burial. Therefore he cannot confirm that the body it was NawabBugti’s body buried in Dera Bugti.
He said he had led the funeral prayer under the immense pressure from formerDCO Dera Bugti Abdul Samad Lasi.

The court expressed complete dissatisfaction over the investigation reportobserving that scores of people were killed after the murder of Nawab Bugti butgovernment has yet to confirm the death of Nawab Bugti.
Adjourning the hearing of petition till last week of July, the bench orderedthat warrants of arrest of all accused from the concerned judicial magistrateshould be produced on next date of hearing.
The court also ordered for production of Maulvi Malook and former DCO DeraBugti Abdul Samad Lasi on next date of hearing.

It is pertinent to mention that Former President General Pervez Musharraf,former PM Shaukat Aziz, Aftab Sherpao, Former Governor Balochgistan Owais AhmedGhani, former CM Jam Yousaf and former Minister Home Shoaib Nosherwaniwere nominated accused in the FIR lodged at Dera Bugti police station.
