QUETTA 31-05-2011“The Establishment has failed to deviate the Baloch from their struggle for independence in spite of atrocities and excesses against them.”
These views were expressed by speakers in a seminar under the title “Baloch independence movement and Mir Yousuf Aziz Magsi” organized by Baloch Students Organization (Azad) in connection with the death anniversary of Yousuf Aziz Magsi here at Quetta Press club on Monday.
Addressing the seminar, noted Baloch intellectual Professor Saba Dashtiari paid rich tributes to the struggle of Mir Yousuf Aziz Magsi for the Baloch masses and independence of Balochistan during the British colonial rule. He said that late Magsi was a great leader who brought awareness among Baloch people and gave a vision to Baloch nation and added that he had brought education and social reformers.
Highlighting political struggle of Yousuf Aziz Magsi, he said that he had no confusion over his vision and struggle for the independent of Baloch, however, he said that some Baloch political parties backed by establishment creating confusion among the youth of Baloch so that they could be deviated from the struggle of independence. Saba Dashtirari said that Baloch national movement had entered into its decisive phase and announcement of few jobs in the name of packages could not change the mind of Baloch nation.
“It has been proved that excesses and atrocities cannot compel the nations from their genuine struggle”, he said, and added that thousands of Baloch youth were languishing in torture cells while hundreds of leaders including Nawab Akbar Bugti, Mir Balach Mirri and Ghulam Muhammad were martyred.
He strongly criticised Balochistan National Party and National Party, saying both parties had sold the coastal belt of Balochistan and now deceiving the people in the name of education and self-determination.
He regretted over the intellectuals of Punjab and said that why they were hesitating to write that Balochistan had been forcefully occupied by Pakistani forces and recognizes the sovereignty of Balochistan. He said that establishment was hatching conspiracies against Balochs and their struggle through using different tactics and targeting innocent people who are on the surface. “Why the security forces cannot fight with Baloch freedom fighters and targeting innocent youth and women”, he asked. He urged upon the Baloch intellectuals to highlight the main efforts of Yousuf Aziz Magsi which he had rendered for the liberty of Baloch nation as he had said that armed struggle was the only way to free the Balochistan and unite Baloch.
Baloch writer, Dr. Shah Muhammad said that it was Yousuf Aziz Magsi who had held first all India Baloch Conference and had played an unprecedented role in bringing development in all spheres of Baloch society. “Magsi was very close to Allama Muhammad Aqbal and Zafar Ali Zafar”, he said and added that he brought revolutionary changes in Baloch society, by opening educational institution and opposing Sardari system despite being a Sardar himself.
He said that he was much concerned about the education of Baloch youth and had established an educational institution in Jhal Magsi in the name of Jama-e-Yousufia. He said that Magsi was one of the opponents of strictness on women and had always raised voice for the women rights and added that Magsi had said that without participation of women in struggle movement it would not be succeeded.
