News : One killed, 17 including 8 FC men hurt in remote control explosion in Panjgour

Occupied Balochistan: A man was killed and 17 others, including eight personnel of Frontier Corps, were injured in a remote controlled explosion in busy Chitkan bazaar of Panjgur district, about 530-kilometer from provincial capital, on Friday.

According to official sources, unknown people had planed an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) with a motorbike and parked it in main Chitakan bazaar, an area busy with people. It was detonated by remote control when a vehicle of FC which was on routine patrol passed by. As result of explosion, ten civilians and eight security personnel received splinter wounds.

The security forces and police cordoned off the area soon after the blast and took the injured to nearby state-run hospital for treatment. One of the injured identified as Abdul Hameed succumbed to his injuries before getting medical aid at hospital. The official vehicle was damaged in the blast.

“A passer-by was killed while eight FC personnel and 9 civilians suffered injuries in the remote controlled blast. Two security personnel received serious wounds and had been shifted to Quetta for specialized treatment,” an official said. “One of the injured Asad Qadir is in critical condition while other wounded people are out of danger,” sources at District Headquarters Hospital Panjgur told this scribe.

There was no Bomb Disposal Squad in the district at all, therefore, it could not be ascertained how many kg explosive was used in the blast. The case was not registered till this news was filed. Inspector General of Frontier Corps Ubaidullah Khan in his statement has strongly condemned the blast and extended his sympathies to injured people. “Those who are involved in such terror activities had nothing to do with the rights of Balochistan and are playing in the hands of foreign elements,” he stated. He said they are targeting people belonging to every ethnic with the aim only to disturb the law and order situation in the province.

Basham Baloch, a spokesperson, of BLF claimed the responsibility for the attack and said that at least 10 FC soldiers were killed and their vehicle was completely destroyed. He vowed to continue such attacks until the liberation of Balochistan.

Power pylon blown up: Unknown militants blew up a power pylon of 220 KV transmission line in Lehri area of Sibi district on Friday. According to the levies sources, unknown militants planted explosive materials with power pylon. As result of explosion the power pylon was completely destroyed disrupting the power supplying to Lehri and its adjourning. Levies force rushed to the spot along with bomb disposable squad and cordoned off the area. The Bomb disposable squad workers Rafiq Shah and Siddiq Shah said that they had recovered 20 kilograms of explosive materials from another power pylon in the same area and managed to defuse it. Levies force registered the case against unknown militants and started probe.

Security guard gunned down: Unknown gunmen on Friday shot a guard dead of a private security company here at Circular Road, police said. Police said that Abdul Nabi was performing duty at a hotel when unknown men opened fire, killing him on the spot. Assailants managed to escape the crime scene.
