QUETTA: Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, while expressing his dissatisfaction over the law and order situation in the province, has said that the chief minister of the province was in better position to say something in this regard.
Talking to media persons here on Wednesday after award ceremony about Pakistan Day at Governor’s House, he said that the law and order situation was not satisfactory in Balochistan as the incidents of kidnapping for ransom were in the rise.
Responding to a question about deteriorating law and order situation in the province, Governor Balochistan said that Judges, lawyers and even women were being abducted while people were being killed. “Chief Minister can tell better in this regard and can answer these questions,” he said.
The Governor, who has previously served twice as Balochistan’s chief minister, said that he was unaware whether the abductees (Judges, lawyers) were released after paying the ransom amount as the questions pertained to provincial government who could better explain in this regard.
To another query, he said that no breakthrough was visible in negotiations between government and angry Baloch people as had issues been resolved through negotiations, the prevailing situation of the province was much different.
When asked about his role regarding law and order, he said that after 18th amendment, he had no power and provincial government was responsible to improve the law and order of the province. However, he declared, we had to wait till general elections for the improvement of the law and order in the province as new elected leadership would come to play its role.
