Khan of Kalat’s nephew gunned down

KALAT: Unidentified motorcyclists gunned down provincial minister’s nephew and a district office-bearer of Balochistan National Party (Mengal) here at the Shahi Darbar Road by opening fire at his vehicle Monday.

According to the police, Agha Mahmood Khan Ahmedzai, who is a also nephew of Khan of Kalat Agha Sulaiman Dawood, Agha Irfan Kareem and Parveen Magsi members of the Balochistan Assembly, was on his way home when unidentified armed men who were on a motorcycle opened fire at his vehicle. As a result, he died on the spot. After the firing, the vehicle of Agha Mahmood Khan went out of control resultantly trampling two passers-by. They sustained minor injuries and were admitted to a hospital. Police are investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, shopkeepers staged strong a protest, BNP (Mengal) announced ten-day mourning and three-day shutterdown throughout Kalat. According to another report, at least four people were injured in a landmine explosion in Dera Bugti during the wee hours of Monday, officials said. The explosion took place in Toba Notkani area of the district when a group of people were on their way home from another village. As a result, those who were injured are identified as Shah Nawaz, Mehrullah, Lota Khan and Abdul Shakoor. The injured were shifted to Sui Hospital for treatment. A case was registered against unidentified miscreants.

On the other hand, hundreds of litre oil spilled on a road when an oil tanker carrying fuel for the Nato forces overturned in Chaman, official sources said. Police official said the Nato tanker was heading toward Kandahar from Karachi when due to the dilapidated condition of the road it overturned in old Chaman area. Resultantly, hundreds of litre oil spilled on the road. Local administration, after being informed reached the site and started the rescue work. The crew of the vehicle remained unhurt.

Unidentified miscreants set ablaze two containers supplying goods to Nato forces in Afghanistan, near Kalat Monday morning. According to the local administration, the miscreants



who were on a motorcycle set ablaze two containers which were parked at a hotel in Lakhoryan area of the district. Both the containers were completely burnt. No group has claimed responsibility for the act. Local Levies authorities are investigating the matter.

Unidentified abductors have released engineer of irrigation department Nanak Ram Rajput, kidnapped from Jaffarabad two months ago, on Monday. The abductors had kidnapped engineer of irrigation department and former journalist Nanak Ram Rajput from Dera Allahyar Bypass, Jaffarabad on December 26. The minorities, social and political parties had protested against the kidnapping.

Talking to Online, Gulshan Ram Rajput Jamali, family member of Nanak Ram Rajput said the kidnapping of Nanak was causing mental torture for the whole family while they had contacted to former prime minister Zafarullah Jamali for Nanak’s release. Nanak said he has come back home. He said the unidentified kidnappers released him near Rojhan, his hometown at dawn. He said the police did not play vital role for his release.
