Mullah Umar Not in Balochistan: Chief Minister

QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani, while commenting on strategic location of Balochistan, has said that neither he would allow Balochistan to become a part of the “Great Game” nor will its resources be permitted to be exploited without taking the local people on board.

He expressed these views during a meeting with the Consul General of Japan Masaharusatu on Thursday who called on Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani here on Wednesday.

Chief Minister during the meeting which lasted for quite some time apprised CG about the devastation caused by the raging floods in Balochistan, besides rescue and rehabilitation measures being taken for the calamity hit people.

“The leadership of Taliban, including Mullah Umer is in Afghanistan, not in Balochistan,” he added that international forces and powers are involved in creating law and order problems in Balochistan in the wake of their vested interest. They will not succeed in their mission because the concept of Taliban is totally different in Balochistan where inhabitants are peaceful and do not believe in armed struggle.

“We, the government, know how to protect the resources and also aware how to utilize it for the welfare of the people,” he maintained. He said that the war launched in Afghanistan for the vested interest of the international powers.

Chief Minister said he believe in negotiation rather than using force. “My stand is clear that Provincial Government should be given clear mandate to hold talks with angry Baloch leadership.”

He said that Baloch youth are talented and there is need to provide them opportunities to use their expertise in good manner and provincial government is working on this.

“I usually ask youths to not take part in so-called movements and don’t become a part of this major conspiracy,”. He said that the youth should join establishment so that they will be given power to make important decisions.

Talking about Gwadar Port CM said “It is a major project and government is capable to run it in a tremendous way because we can’t deny importance of its location.”

He said that the agreement with Port of Singapore should be withdrawn because it did not come up to the expectation. “We have also informed the federal government about our reservation on Port of Singapore Authority.”

The Japan Consul General while expressing grief over the human and property loss caused by the disaster ever faced the country assured Japan’s unflinching support for the rehabilitation of millions of people rendered homeless in Balochistan.
