QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Raisani has directed the authorities concerned to take strict action against doctors and officials who are found negligent while discharging their duties in flood-devastated districts.
Presiding over a meeting at CM Secretariat here on Tuesday, to review the relief and rehabilitation operations in province, Chief Minister said that his government will utilize its all available resources to ensure the rehabilitation of flood victims.
Raisani has asked the Health Department to expedite its efforts to provide affected people with medical care and also control the outbreak of epidemics. “Negligence will not be tolerated in this regard,” he warned.
Keeping in view the literacy rate in rural areas, Chief Minister said he will demand with Federal Government to make the procedure easy about the distribution of relief amount among the victims. “The amount announced by Federal Government for affected people will be distributed through local administration rather then Bank card.”
“We will demand with federal government to provide assistance in accordance with the needs of this province,” he said adding that provincial government had so far released Rs 1 billion in the wake of relief operations.
The Federal government had provided Rs 50 million and the amount had been spent through Utility Stores Corporation providing affected families with rations.
He said the provincial government would provide fertilizers and agricultural equipments free of cost to the farmers.
Secretary Livestock informed the participants of meeting that the department suffered losses worth Rs 17 billion and tens of thousands of cattle swept away in Balochistan. “We will demand to impose a ban on issuance of export permit of cattle so that challenge of shortage of milk and meat could be resolved,” he maintained.
The process of verification of flood victims should be concluded on time so that the rehabilitation phase take place soon, he added.
