Baloch poets lives at risk for singing Balochi revolutionary songs


Occupied Balochistan: Balochi folk lore and revolutionary music has been playing an important part in the ongoing Baloch struggle for freedom; the significance of Balochi revolutionary music is causing panic among Pakistan suppressive rulers and they have started victimising Baloch Musicians. They constantly face threats from Pakistan army for singing revolutionary Balochi songs. This time the victim of Pakistan’s brutality is Hameed Sharif a Baloch singer, who has recently released a new album named “Sarmachar” (Freedom Fighter). He fled his house is on the run after the Pakistan forces raided his house, presumably with the intention to arrest him. His album has been banned and recordings forcefully taken away from local markets and later on burnt by Pakistani Intelligence and security forces. His family members were harassed during the raids on his house.

Hameed Sharif is only a recent victim of Pakistan, previously Azeem Baloch; another singer was imprisoned for several months for his revolutionary songs. Reportedly he was brutally tortured by Pakistani security Agencies. Another Baloch had been arrested and acid were poured down his throat making him unable to sing again. Pakistan has been threatening with dire consequences all those Baloch writers, poets, singers and artists who raise their voice against Pakistan’s atrocities against the people of Balochistan.
