QUETTA: Balochistan Levies Force recovered four mutilated bodies in the wee hours of Thursday in Mastung district, some 50 kilometers southeast of here, which are said to be of activists of Baloch Students Organization-Azad who had gone missing some days back in the same district.
According to Levies sources, the law enforcement agency found the bodies in Lakpass area of the district when they were on routine patrolling in the area and later took them to Mastung Hospital where they were identified as Mahmood Baloch, Tariq Baloch, Hameed Bangulzai and Lateef Bangulzai.
Mahmood Baloch and Tariq Baloch had been abducted from Mastung some three days back while Hameed Bangulzai and Lateef Bangulazai had gone missing a week ago from the district.
Meanwhile, an official from Mastung said they had been notified that three more bodies had been found in Dasht area of the district but the law enforcement agency had not reached there yet nor the victims had been identified.
On Wednesday, President Asif Ali Zardari had authorized Balochistan government to initiate dialogue with all political forces in the provinces in order to control the insurgency. However, Baloch nationalists had rejected Islamabad’s new offer, demanding that killing of Baloch dissidents and surfacing of their bullet-ridden and disfigured bodies should come to an end.
Since July last year, more than 200 bullet-ridden and mutilated corpses of Baloch activists, political workers, human rights activists, lawyers, journalists and teachers have been found in desolate places, alongside roads across Balochistan who had allegedly been picked up by state intelligence agencies and paramilitary Frontier Corps.
Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, a Balochistan-based organization working for the safe recovery of disappeared Balochs, claims more than 13,000 people have disappeared in the conflict-stricken region since the insurgency started.
Mastung has appeared as a center of violent attacks from Baloch separatist groups in recent months. Last month, a 16-year old newphew of Balochistan cheif minister, Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani, was killed in a bomb blast that hit a footbal match in a stadium in the town. The district has also witnessed a rapid increase in attacks on vehicls carrying supplies for Nato troops in neighboring Afghanistan.
