ISLAMABAD – Amnesty International (AI) demanded October 26 that Pakistan investigate the alleged torture and killing of more than 40 political leaders and activists in Balochistan Province from July through October 2010.
Sam Zarifi, AI Asia Pacific director, said violence has increased in 2010 in Balochistan, according to an AI press release. The Pakistani government must provide justice to the victims, he said.
The government is trying its best to safeguard human rights, Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Basit said.
