Iranian and Pakistani fundamentalists vow to fight seculars jointly

Pakistani religious group ‘Jama’at Islami’ (JI) and Iranian parliamentarians jointly held a meeting in Quetta –capital of the East Baluchistan and agreed to fight secular nationalists jointly. They claimed that secularism and nationalism had tempered with the norms of society and their eradication was necessary to uphold peace and security in the region.

According to a report published in a Baluchistan based newspaper ‘daily Tawar’ the meeting was hosted by JI in honour of Iranian parliamentarians. It was addressed by Nazir Ahmad Selumi and Abdolrahman Arefi from Iran, and JI Baluchistan chapter leader Abdolmatin Akhondzadah as well as Abdolhaq Hashomi and many others.

The report quoted Iranian an preacher as saying “Islam is a complete way of life and democracy doesn’t get precedence over Islam. The West is promoting democracy to stop Islam from spreading. Furthermore, they wish to occupy our resources by dividing us into fractions.”

The preachers praised JI and certified it as a true pro-Islam organisation which was engaged in resolving problems of Muslim ‘Umma’.

The JI preachers were quoted as saying “secularism, nationalism and fractions have diluted the society and divided Muslims. There is an urge to have a universal struggle for the unity of ‘Umma’ based on the philosophy of Abol-ala Modudi the founding leader of JI.”

A popular movement led by secular Baluch nationalists, currently fighting Islamist regimes of Iran and Pakistan who have occupied Baluchistan since early 20th century. The Baluch struggle is posing a threat to the authoritarian rulers of the occupying countries and Islamists who are seeking re-incarnation of ‘Khelafa’.

Ironically, Iran has had a 32 year rule by Islamists and during this period, drug addicts and prostitutions have increased in the country. People are turning away from Islam as the result of bad governance. Same goes with Pakistan which is known to be the den of all evils.

However, through such meetings Iranian authorities transfer state oil money to foreign organisations who are seen as potential anti- US allies. JI is currently leading a campaign in Pakistan for the capital punishment of a US diplomat Raymond Davis who is accused of murdering two Pakistani citizens in Lahore city.
