News : Families of enforced-disappeared Baloch receiving threats from Pakistan security agencies: VBMP

Occupied Balochistan: Relatives of Baloch missing persons have accused Pakistani security forces and secret agencies of threatening them with dire consequences if they lodge cases against them over extra-judicial arrest of their loved ones. Chairperson Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), Nasurllah Baloch expressed these views against government functionaries during a news conference at Quetta Press Club on Monday and he was accompanied by relatives of missing persons.

“We are on strike for years, even organized hunger strikes in Quetta, Karachi and Islamabad but no avail,” he said and added “as many as 100 Baloch missing persons have so far been killed at the hand of paramilitary troops and secret forces. All of them were tortured and their bodies were thrown in different parts of Balochistan.” He said that around 70 out of 100 killed people, had been whisked away by security forces and the personnel were in uniforms while abducting the people. “We strongly condemn this inhuman act and appeal that if anyone involved in any offence then he must be tried in the court of law rather than violating the law and human rights,” he added.

He said those missing persons who have been released are now suffering from different diseases and they were brutally tortured during their illegal detention. Mr. Nasurllah Baloch said that his organization, which is striving for the recovery of missing persons, has the complete data of 1300 Baloch missing persons out of 11,000. “Relatives of missing persons are receiving threatening calls and even officials in persons threatened them of dire consequences and advised not to highlight the issue and not file any petition,” he told the reporters.

He said that few days earlier security personnel whisked away a lawyer Nadir Shaha advocate who was assisting the Balochistan High Court regarding the cases of Baloch missing persons. “He was kept into the illegal custody for a few days and was threatened not to appear before court.” He said that soon VBMP will launch a long march towards Islamabad and stage set-in until the safe recovery of all missing persons. “We, the relatives of missing persons, do not know why the forces are behaving with us in such a brutal manner which is also violation of constitution of Pakistan and human rights,” they said. The relatives called upon civil society, international humanitarian organizations, United Nations and media to take notice of this humanitarian issue and play their due role by highlighting it.
