An explosion in Pakistan's Baluchistan destroys a gas pipelineMilitants in Pakistan's Balochistan have destroyed parts of a pipeline, disrupting gas flow to nearby villages and towns in the bleak winter.
The attackers detonated explosives alongside a gas pipeline in Mastung in the southwestern province of Balochistan on Saturday, law enforcement officials said.
No one has claimed responsibility for the explosion. Police have barricaded the area to launch an official investigation, a Press TV correspondent reported.
However, repairs on the gas pipeline have not begun, causing great distress for Pakistanis who are battling harsh winter weather in the area.
Electricity grids and gas pipelines have been a popular target amongst the local militants, who seek more autonomy and control of the province's gas resources.
