QUETTA, Jan 27: The Hazara Democratic Party has called upon the government to stop military operation in Balochistan and hold talks for resolving contentious issues.
At a gathering organised here on Wednesday to mark the first death anniversary of HDP’s chairman Hussain Ali Yousafi, speakers said that the Hazara people had rendered great sacrifices for the country and it would be unjustified to keep them out of the decision making process.
Abdul Khaliq Hazara, Ahmed Kohzad, Mirza Hasan Hazara, Mohammad Raiz Wakil, Mohammad Musa Koshani, Khalil Raizi and Sardar Sihal Hazara were among the speakers.
They said that a dangerous game was being played in the region in the name of religion, adding that Talibanisation was a big threat for both Pakistan and Afghanistan.
They criticised the Afghan parliament for rejecting nominations of Uzbek and Hazara candidates as cabinet members. The Afghan government should take other groups into confidence before holding negotiations with Taliban.
The speakers condemned target killing of Hazara people in Balochistan and accused some state institutions of supporting the killers.
