Naseer raised voice against imperialists, says Lashkari Raisani

ISLAMABAD: Mir Gul Khan Naseer raised voice against imperialists through his poetry and awakened the Baloch nation to struggle for their rights, said Senator Nawabzada Mir Lashkari Raisani, Chairman of Standing Committee for Water and Electricity.

He was addressing a literary seminar on renowned Balochi poet and researcher, “Mir Gul Khan Naseer: Life & Works”. The literary organisation Jam Durrak Welfare Society in collaboration with Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) organised the seminar. Raeesani was the chief guest at the seminar presided over by Wahid Bakhsh Buzdar.

“We must follow Naseer’s teachings to create unity and establish educational institutions on the right line,” said Raeesani.

Raeesani, Balochistan PPP president, said Naseer was an intellectual, poet and a patriotic person. “We must take guidance form people like to steer the nation out of present crises,” he added.

Buzdar said Naseer’s poetry was a central point of protest and revolution in modern Balochi poetry and he resisted exploitation throughout his life. “Naseer fought class conflict and political oppression with his pen and wrote what he felt,” Buzdar added.

Buzdar said late Naseer joined various resistance movement and suffered imprisonment but he always remained determined. “He was a legendary Baloch poet in real terms and he lived in the hearts of people,” he added.

Senator Dr Mohammad Ismail Baleedi said practical steps needed to be taken to end the deprivation of Balochi people. All the problems of Balochi people should be solved so that they could progress like the other provinces in all fields, he added.

Mohammad Usman Advocate said Naseer was a poet, researcher, historian and politician who devoted all his life for the independence of Balochi people through his revolutionary poetry.

Dr Rashid Hameed, Senator Abdul Malik, Rahim Bakhsh and Yar Jan Badeni also address the seminar.
