After attack on Ziarat Residency: Pakistani media is inciting their army to intensify atrocities in Balochistan: Hybyair Marri

London :  The Baloch patriot leader Hyrbyair Marri said that those who shed crocodile tear over the attack on the icon of Baloch repression is understandable. Their interests are in direct conflict with the interest of the Baloch nation. They tend to forget that it was Mr Jinnah who ordered his army to invade and illegally occupy our homeland in 1948. It was Mr Jinnah who illegally appropriated our national asset too. Jinnah chose Ziyarat mansion as his residency to remind the Baloch that after the departure of British colonisers he was the colonial ruler of Balochistan. So this house, to the Baloch, has always been a symbol of colonial rulers. Those who made such hue and cry over this attack were in complete coma when Pakistan army bombed, looted and destroyed houses of thousands of innocent Baloch people across Balochistan. He said houses of countless Baloch have been destroyed, burned and looted by Pakistan army in Kohistan Marri, Dera Bugti, Naseer Abad, Mastung, Asplinji and most recently Gomazi, Tump and Mashkay areas in Balochistan. The Baloch houses were set on fire with everything inside. As result of which many Baloch families with their young children have been left stranded without any shelter. In many of these raids, Pakistani security forces have also burned the holy Quran. Hyrbyair Marri said Pakistan policy towards the Baloch nation has always been consistent. During 1970s, they also bombed, burnt and damaged thousand of Baloch houses. Baloch livestock were taken away and auctioned in markets in Punjab and elsewhere in Pakistan. But we heard nothing from the proponent of Pakistan about these atrocities. Their media, civil society and their Baloch cronies all were silent and turned a blind eye to their state’s crimes against humanity. And yet, on 15 June when Baloch Sarmachars (freedom fighters) attacked the colonial cottage that the so called founder of Pakistan expropriated, the entire Panjabi establishment found itself in a much conceited shock. Jinnah died over sixty years ago and he resided in this property only for over a year. For Pakistani media, this is the only claim over Balochistan to hang on. They know very well that Pakistan can have no other claim over Balochistan except this spurious claim that the founder of their artificial country once resided at this cottage in Balochistan. Nothing is new to us about Pakistani state and establishment. They are always looking for any pretext to attack Baloch nation. The Sarmachars assault on this colonial symbol now is the pretext for the recent surge in Pakistani media propaganda and many provocative articles to incite the military to intensify its atrocities in Balochistan. Hyrbyair Marri said for the Baloch nation Mr Jinnah is a fraudster. He was employed by the state of Balochistan as the legal advisor to help Balochistan to regain their independence from Britain not to be re-colonised by Mr Jinnah himself. For the Baloch people Jinnah was an imposter and he betrayed the Baloch nation. Commenting on a threatening statement of Pakistan’s federal minister, Chaudhry Nisar, after the attack on Jinnah’s residence – who said that, “Eye for an eye: Violence will be met with violence.” Hyrbyair Marri said, “We Baloch do not believe in such principles. We are struggling for our equal rights. Baloch have neither invaded another nation nor are they the cause of violence. It is Mr Chaudhry and his Punjabi army who invaded our homeland and are the cause of the violence in Balochistan. To apply Mr Chaudary principle would mean Punjab would have the highest number of blind people in the world including Mr Chaudary himself. Millions Bengalis, Baloch, Sindis, Pushtons who have lost their lives and disappeared are the victims of his army and security forces. I would also like to remind the federal minister that his army and establishment tested five nuclear bombs in the heart of Balochistan and destroyed the Baloch land in 1998, would he also welcome such tests at the heart of Punjab. Would he wish thousands of his compatriots in Punjab to be disappeared, tortured and killed? Would he like his entire Punjab being exploited and destroyed?” Expressing his views about one of Akhtar Mengal interviews on a Pakistani TV channel, Mr Marri said to be a cog in the machinery of Pakistan means you will think and speak like a Pakistani. While, the Pashtun leader termed the Ziyarat residency as a symbol of slavery but Akhtar Mengal seems to be more grieved than most Pakistanis from Sarmachars’ attack on the Ziyarat residency. By national asset we think of Baloch national asset. Ask Mr Mengal which nation he has in mind when he used the phrase of ‘national asset’ for Jinnah’s rest house. Is it the Baloch nation or the arbitrary state of Pakistan? Does his loyalty lie with the Baloch nation or to the Punjabi establishment? It is high time we must come clean. We cannot go to two separate roads at the same time. We are either pursuing the inherent rights of Baloch nation or the interests of Pakistani and Punjabi state and army. We are very clear in our aims and objectives. We will never abandon our rights and will struggle to the end to acquire our national freedom.” Baloch leader said Ziyarat Residency is not better than the houses of innocent Baloch people that have been destroyed by Pakistani military. “The occupying military can attack and destroy Baloch houses and violate the sanctity of Baloch code of honour whenever they want but we hear no objection from any supporter of Pakistan. Just recently the Pakistani security forces agents hurled a grenade at the house of the renowned Baloch poet Mubarak Qazi Baloch. But did anyone hear much from Pakistani media and their Baloch followers on this incident? Nothing at all.” said Mr Marri. Hyrbyair Marri said Pakistan and its cronies like Dr Malik term the Baloch pro-independence activists and leader as angry Baloch. How low and patronising one can get to his or her nation and national democratic struggle than this. The fact of the matter is Baloch are not angry with anyone. They are simply struggling for their freedom. “No sane person in the world accepts slavery. In the same manner Baloch are very conscious about their struggle against the occupying states. In order to undermine the genuine Baloch struggle for freedom, pro-Pakistani Baloch distort the facts and use a pejorative term and call pro-freedom Baloch as ‘angry Baloch.’ Commenting on the issue of Durand Lind Mr Marri said that the Baloch and Pashtun nations do not recognise this arbitrary line and will never do. By drawing this line the British divided these nations into multiple parts. He said Punjab is using the Durand Line to continue its domination over Pakistan. He added, the Baloch people completely support the Afghan people’s stance on this issue. The Baloch leader said, “The Durand Line and the Gold Smith Line have divided Baloch nation into three parts. Since then the Baloch have been struggling to regain their independence. Baloch have never accepted these artificial lines and neither would they honour such agreements. The Baloch and Pashtun should unite and jointly challenge the validity of Durand line.” Expressing his views about US – Taliban talks Mr Marri said that Pakistan has been using the Taliban to defeat American and NATO forces in Afghanistan. Pakistan considers Taliban their primary strategic asset and a bargaining chip to black mail the Western powers. “Pakistan is the sole reason for continuous instability in Afghanistan and in the region. The US administration should avoid including Pakistan in talks between US, Afghanistan and the Taliban. Including Pakistan in such talks will only prolong instability in Afghanistan and the region.” He further said, “Without eliminating Pakistan’s terror factories the US withdrawal from Afghanistan will damage the US and international community’s effort to bring peace in the region. Many years of hard work, human and financial costs by the US to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan will go in vain.” Pakistan will consider the US withdrawal as a success to their policy of supporting Taliban and will further encourage extremism and religious terrorism in the region.
