A tribute to Mir Gul Khan Nasir
Literary organisation Jam Durrak Welfare Society in collaboration with Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) organised a literary seminar to pay tribute to eminent Balochi literati, poet, researcher and historian Mir Gul Khan Naseer.
The seminar was presided by Wahid Bakhsh Buzdar, while Senator Nawabzada Haji Mir Lashkari Raeesani, Chairman Standing Committee For Water & Electricity, was the chief guest on the occasion. Senator Dr Muhammad Ismail Baleedi, Muhammad Usman Advocate and Dr Rashid Hameed expressed their views, while Senator Dr Abdul Malik, Raheem Bakhsh Mehar and Yar Jan Badeni were the speakers on the occasion, who shared their views on the life and works of the eminent Balochi literati. The seminar was conducted by Zia-ur-Rehman Baloch.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Raeesani, who is also President PPP Balochistan, said Mir Gul Khan Naseer was the most important intellectual and poet of his age, and was a patriotic person, who raised his voice against the imperialistic powers in the form of poetry and also revolted practically. Gul Naseer awakened the Baloch nation and guided them, Raeesani said adding, “We must take guidance from people like him to take our nation out of the present crises.” He said we need unity and could create a revolution through establishing our educational institutions on the right line.
Wahid Bakhsh Buzdar said Mir Gul Khan Naseer’s poetry is a central point of protest and revolution in modern Balochi poetry, as he showed resistance against exploitation in poetry form throughout his life and fought the class conflict and political oppression with his pen. Buzdar said Gul Naseer’s poetry was not a slogan and he wrote what he felt.
Senator Dr Mohammad Ismail Baleedi said practical steps need to be taken to end the deprivation of Balochi people, adding that all their problems must be solved to let them progress, which is the need of the hour.
Mohammad Usman Advocate said Gul Naseer was a poet, researcher, historian and politician, who devoted all his life for the movement of independence of Balochi people. He was a humanist and a revolutionary poet. Dr Rashid Hameed said Gul Naseer dedicated all his life to universal values adding that he is not only a popular Balochi poet but is very important for all struggling nations of the world.
Senator Abdul Malik said Gul Naseer worked for the unity and independence of Balochi people, while Rahim Bakhsh said the poet represented the Balochi nation in his poetry in the right way and wrote poetry for the freedom of Balochi people, an effort that was paid back with similar love by the Baloch nation. Yar Jan Badeni said Gul Naseer talked about the oppressed sections of society and always raised his voice against injustices.
