FC man killed in explosion, 16 districts of Balochistan in darkness, Gas field vehicle escapes bomb attack

Occupied Balochistan: A Frontier Corps (FC) man was killed in a landmine explosion in Dera Bugti district on Sunday. According to a Levy official, the incident took place at Gudno area within the limits of Levies Thana Pirkoh when a FC man identified as Safteen Shah was walking through from one check post to another and stepped on a landmine placed there.

Resultantly, he suffered multiple splinter wounds and was taken to PPL hospital for treatment where he breathes his last. Personnel of FC reached the site and started an investigation into the blast.

Uch gas field’s vehicle escaped from remote bomb: An official vehicle of Uch Gas Field escaped a remote controlled blast in Jarwar Bridge area in Sohbatpur Tehsil of Jaffarbad district on Sunday, a senior police officer said. An explosive device was planted along with Jarwar Bridge detonated through a remote control when a vehicle carrying employees of Uch Gas Field was passing through the area. “The vehicles passed through and after few seconds explosion occurred,” a senior police officer said. The employees travelling in the vehicle remained unhurt.

However, the blast claimed the lives of two camels that were passing through the area. The police and Frontier Corps personnel reached the site soon after the blast and threw a cordon in the area to preserve the evidence. An official said that investigations are underway into the attack. A case has been registered against unknown persons. It may be mentioned that two employees of Uch Gas Felid were killed and three others sustained injures two days earlier in the same area when unknown motorcyclist opened fire on them.

The Baloch Republican Army (BRA) claimed the responsibility for the attack on FC convoy in Pirkoh and targeting the Uch Gas field vehicle in Sohbatpur region of Balochistan.

Eleven injured in blast: At least 11 people, including two children, were injured in an explosion in Serat Chowk, a busy commercial area of Industrial Hub Town, on Sunday, police said. Unknown people planted explosive materials near the wall of Jama Mosque, which exploded with big bang injuring eleven people who were passing through the area. “The explosive materials were placed near the wall,” Superintendent of Police Rafiq Lasi told reporters. The injured were taken to Civil Hospital Hub for treatment where three injured had been referred to Karachi because of their serious wounds. Those injured were identified as Abdul Qadir, Naeem, Noor Ahmed, Dileep, Ghulam Qadir, a police man Mohammad Umar, Bahadur Ali Sadullah and Asadullah. All the condition of the injured are stated to be out of danger. According to Bomb Disposal Squad, around one and half kilograms explosive material were used in blast.

16 districts are without electricity: 16 districts of Balochistan, including provincial capital, plunged into darkness on Sunday night when unknown persons blew up two power pylons of 220 KV near Mach town in Bolan district. Chief of Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), Shafiq Ahmed Khan said that unknown militants planted explosive materials with two power pylons in Ab-e-Gum area near Mach Town about 60-kilometer from Sibi district.

The affected districts are included Quetta, Sibi, Kalat, Mastung, Kachhi, Jhal Magsi, Pishin, Zohb, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah and Ziarat, Naushki, Khuzdar and Shirani. The power supply to some parts of Quetta city was restored through alternative Habibullah Coastal Power Plant and Harnai Power house, he added. He said that teams will be dispatched on Monday today to the area for repair works after security clearance. It may be mentioned that Baloch insurgents consistently carrying out attacks in the area for the past four days.

Earlier they killed five police personnel, blew up two power pylons and abducted Deputy Commissioner Jhal Magsi and Sub-Engineer who are still in their captivity. There were also reports that insurgents also fired two rockets on the convoy of Inspector General Police Balochistan in Ab-e-Gum area late Saturday night and all the people in the convey remained unhurt.
