BNP, BSO-Azad protest against killings of Baloch political opponents

QUETTA: Balochistan National Party (BNP) and Baloch Student Organisation (BSO-Azad) staged demonstrations on Friday in different parts of Balochistan in a protest against the extra-judicial killings of Baloch political opponents Jamil Yaqoob and comrade Qayyum Baloch. BNP held a protest demonstration in front of the Quetta Press Club. The protesters were carrying placards and banners condemning the killings. Addressing the demonstration, BNP Information Secretary, Agha Hassan, said that it was the ethnic cleansing of Baloch people. “The military operation is still going on in parts of Balochistan where people are being picked up every next day and security forces are directly involved in these actions,” he added. He said that his party will not be scared of killings and will continue its struggle for self-determination. “Jamil Yaqoob was picked up by security agencies and they are the ones responsible for the killing,” he alleged. He recalled that BNP had sacrificed many of its leaders, including the top leadership like Habib Jalib, for the great struggle and did not bow down before powerful forces. The party has demanded an immediate end to the military operation in the province. BNP also held protest demonstrations in Naushki, Khuzdar, Kalat, Chagai and other townships against the alleged military operation and recovery of bullet-riddled bodies of missing persons. Separately, Baloch students also held a protest demonstration and accused secret agencies of killing Baloch political opponents in their illegal detention. “The violation of human rights in Balochistan is on the rise.
