ISLAMABAD – The Balochistan Assembly has passed a unanimous resolution expressing full confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and appreciated his efforts for playing a key role in evolving a new consensus formula on the 7th National Finance Commission Award.
The vote came as a big sigh of relief to the president, who has been under severe attack from public circles for quite some time. Sadiq Umrani, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) parliamentary leader in the Balochistan Assembly presented the motion to express full confidence in Zardari’s leadership, which was endorsed by all MPs. “We express our full confidence in Zardari’s leadership for continuously striving to pull Pakistan out of numerous internal and external crises. He is the symbol of unity of the federation and is also the co-chairman of the PPP, which is, no doubt, the largest political force of Pakistan,” the resolution stated.
Meanwhile, the assembly expressed concern over the inordinate delays being observed in the completion of highways in Balochistan.
Ex-Governor Balochistan Qadir Baloch joins PML-N
Former Balochistan governor Abdul Qadir Baloch has announced his annexure with Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) on Tuesday morning, Geo news reported.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif Tuesday said the situation in Balochistan will improve, if the justice is made available there.
Addressing a press conference in Quetta, he said the Parliament needs to be empowered, as a powerful parliament can give autonomy to the provinces, adding his party, whether in government or in opposition, will continue playing its role for the supremacy of law. – SG
