Baloch protest against Pakistan TV channel’s racist comments
Karachi: The Baloch Civil Society staged a protest demonstration against a Pakistani TV channel’s ‘Morning Show’ in front of Karachi Press Club on Friday.
The angry protesters held placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the ARY TV channel. They also encircled the office of ARY and chanted slogans.
Addressing the public gathering the organiser of the protest said the Baloch are a tolerant nation and they equally respect all human being regardless of their creed and colour. “The way the ARY TV show ridiculed Baloch nation, it is not only against journalistic ethics but it is also against ethics of humanity,” The Baloch leaders said.
They further said that Baloch of Karachi have always respected all other nations living in city but it was unfortunate that these people were making fun of Baloch traditions. They urged owners of ARY, Abdul Razzaq Yaqob and Abdul Rauf, to take action against the host of ‘Morning Show’.
They also demanded from PEMRA (Pakistan Electronic Media Authority) to cancel the licenses of those TV channels that violate the code of conduct of journalism.
Meanwhile the host of ARY’s ‘Morning Show’, Nida Yasir has apologised from the Baloch people of Lyari for hurting their feeling. She said the intention of the ‘Morning Show’ was to entertain people and not to hurt or disrespect the Baloch people or anyone else.
