The counter-revolutionaries will take advantage of his murder,” said one post. “It sounds like a hit job for a security officer of this importance”. سایت محلی «البرز» از ترور یکی از فرماندهان نواحی سپاه استان البرز خبر داد. این سایت روز سه‌شنبه (۹ مهر) به نقل از یک منبع مطلع نوشته که «م. الف» یک‌شنبه شب (هفتم مهر) ناپدید و پیکر وی روز دوشنبه (هشتم مهر) در یکی از مناطق شهر کرج پیدا شده است. این فرد گفته است: «بر روی بدن وی اثر دو گلوله دیده می‌شود که با توجه به شکاف ایجاد شده٬ پیش بینی می‌شود او براثر شلیک یک سلاح کمری ترور شده باشد.» یک منبع مطلع در پلیس کرج هم اظهار کرده که «براساس اطلاعات بدست آمده دو موتور سوار در یکی از مناطق جنوبی کرج به وی شلیک کرده‌اند.» شبکه اجتماعی «افسران جنگ نرم» وابسته به سپاه پاسداران نیز هویت کامل این فرمانده سپاه را مجتبی احمدی اعلام کرده است. یکی از کاربران این شبکه اجتماعی دو تصویر از محل پیدا شدن پیکر مجتبی احمدی منتشر کرده و این محل را «محمدشهر» کرج اعلام کرده است. عکس محل کشف جسد را نشان می دهد.
