Quetta :

Baloch Gohaar Movement and World Baloch Women Forum organised protest demonstration on Saturday to condemn recovery of mass graves in Balochistan. They urge the international community to take notice of such crimes by state of Pakistan.

Baloch Gohar Movement organised a protest demonstration on Saturday in front of Quetta Press Club against the discovery of mass graves in Balochistan.

The Baloch National Voice also supported the BGM protest and joined the demonstration to condemn the uncovering of three mass graves in Tootak area of Khuzdar, Balochistan.

The participants were holding placards inscribed with messages such as “UN stop Baloch genocide, Play your role for the safe release of our loved ones” They also chanted slogan against the ‘state terrorism’ in Balochistan.

The leaders of Baloch Gohaar (sisters) Movement demanded from international community to dispatch a team of independent experts to conduct the DNA tests of the bodies to ascertain their identity. They also demanded that United Nations and International Human Rights organisations should summon Pakistan before the International Criminal Court to make it her answerable for the crime against humanity in Balochistan.

The Vice Chairperson of Gohar Movement and the sister of Abdul Wadood Raeesani while addressing the gathering said that after discovery of the mass graves it was now a fact that Pakistan is involved in war crimes against Baloch nation and human rights violations in Balochistan.

They said: “We have time and again requested international community and UN to intervene But our plea were ignored by the international community which encouraged Pakistan to escalate its atrocities against Baloch nation.”

They said that the previous government was throwing the bodies of Baloch youth on roadside and desolated areas but the current government is being burying them in mass graves. This, the BGM leaders, said was a question mark for those who claim to be champions of human rights.

Zamur Azad Baloch said that after martyring the Baloch activists’ Pakistani state forces poured acid on their faces so that nobody can recognise them. She said only three of the recovered bodies have been identified because their identity cards were found in their pockets.

The BGM leader said the silence of UN is worrying because Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances also in their report had mention that they were told that 14000 Baloch have been disappeared by Pakistani security agencies. Despite of the knowledge of situation UN and human rights organisations are ignoring this international catastrophe.

She said one has the right to question. Are the international slogans only empty slogans or they can be implemented too and does international community Baloch people as human?

The Baloch women protesters said was still not late for UN and international human rights organisations to dispatch their fact finding missions in the region to investigate the mass graves and bring the facts before the world. Baloch nation wants to know where all the disappeared people have gone. Whether any of them are alive and still in the custody of Pakistani forces or they have been martyred and buried in mass graves?

Meanwhile a protest demonstration was held in front of British Prime Minister’s resident in 10 Downing Street London.

The World Baloch Women Forum has given the called for protest and Baloch Community London supported the call.

More than two dozen people gathered to demand from the British Prime Minister and other leaders of western world to stop supporting Pakistan. They said Pakistan was committing grave human rights violations in Balochistan and international community has turned a blind eye to such crimes.

Speaking to media Mahdim H Borr Baloch said that the discovery of “three large mass graves” was a nothing short of genocide of Baloch people by Pakistan.

She emphasised that Baloch were facing a systematic policy of genocide by the Pakistani state and the Punjabi elite that rules the Pakistani state.

She also strongly condemned the state of Iran for killing innocent Baloch, adding that “In Iran almost 60% of those that have been executed are of Baloch descent.”

She said the only solution of Baloch question was an independent and democratic Baloch state.
