International Day of Human Rights will be observed as a day of mourning: VBMP

Occupied Balochistan: The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons has announced to observe the International Day of Human Rights, 10 December, as day of mourning against extra-judicial killings, illegal abductions and the continuous recovery of mutilated bodies of Baloch abducted activists across Balochistan.

The above decision was taken in an important meeting of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) which was presided by Chairman Nasrullah Baloch and Vice Chairman Qadeer Baloch. Several relatives of enforced-disappeared Baloch activists from different areas of Balochistan were also present at the meeting. The meeting has strongly criticised Human Rights Organisation and departments of Justice for their silence on arbitrary arrests, extra-judicial killings and recovery of bodies of Baloch activists in Balochistan. They also said that current provincial government of Balochistan and severing Baloch ministers were not only turning a blind eye on this grave human tragedy but they were also in complete denial about the abduction and killing of Baloch youth, which is condemnable.

They said that relatives of Baloch abducted persons were protesting in a moderate and peaceful fashion for the release of their loved ones but they are under immense pressure by the Intelligence Agencies of Pakistan to end their protest. “It is regrettable that despite all these atrocities and human rights violations in Balochistan the Human Rights Organisations, the United Nations and Justice related departments have not taken any praiseworthy actions”, said participants of the meeting.

The meeting has decided to observe, 10 December – the International Day of Human Rights, as a black day. “On this day there will be protest rallies in Quetta and other districts of Balochistan. The aim of these protests is to draw the attention of International Human Rights Organisations and the United Nations toward the plight of Baloch missing persons – arbitrary abduction, the recovery of mutilated and tortured bodies and the on-going kill and dump policy. The International Community will be urged to take strong notice of such atrocities and play their effective and practical role to stop such barbaric acts of the state in Balochistan.”
