Former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf Arrested In Murder Case

New Delhi: The Balochistan Police has formally arrested former Pakistan Army Chief General Pervez Musharraf in two cases including Akbar Bugti murder case.
The first information report (FIR) of the murder was lodged on the complaint of Jamil Akbar Bugti, the former chief minister's son, in which Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former interior minister Aftab Ahmed Sherpao, former Balochistan governor Owaiz Ahmed Ghani, former Balochistan home minister Shoaib Nosherwani and Abdul Samad Lasi were named.
Baloch Leader Nawab Akbar Bugti was killed in a cave Aug 26, 2006 during a military crackdown ordered by Musharraf who was President and Army Chief at the time.
Bugti had led an armed campaign to press for provincial autonomy and a greater share of profits from Balochistan’s natural resources.
Earlier, a special team of the Balochistan Crime Branch had left for Islamabad on Wednesday to arrest former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf in the Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti assassination case.
The arrest warrants of the former president were issued by Justice Muhammad Ismail Baloch of the special anti-terrorism court.
Meanwhile, a defense lawyer said a court granted bail to Pakistan's former military ruler Pervez Musharraf in a case involving his allegedly unconstitutional 2007 decision to fire senior judges.
