Balochistan: Shutter down protest against killing of eight Baloch activists in Dera Bugti

Quetta : A complete shutter-down and wheel-jam strike was observed on Wednesday in different parts of Balochistan against the massacre of innocent Baloch civilians by Pakistani forces in Sui, Human Rights violations, Enforced-disappearances and extra-judicial killings across Balochistan. The Baloch Republican Party had given the call for protest which was supported by other pro-independence political parties. Most Baloch dominated areas remained shut throughout the day. Cities including Mastung, Khuzdar, Kalat, Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Noshki, Kharan, Hub, Turbat, Gawadar, Punjgor, Sui, Pelawagh, Jaffarabad were reportedly closed and traffic was thin on the road due wheel-jam protest. Pakistani forces have reportedly threatened and forced the shopkeepers to keep their businesses open in Sui, Noshki and Dera Bugti but people voluntarily closed their shops to make the strike a success. “We complain to our Pushtun brothers for not supporting the strike and keeping silence over the genocide of Baloch people by the state forces and institutions. Pushtun brothers should remember that the state could do the same to them as its forces and institutions cannot be trusted & they can deceive anyone for their vested interests,” Said the BRP in their press release. Baloch Republican Party called upon the international community and international institutions of justice to take immediate action against the ongoing state atrocities and human rights violations in Balochistan and play their role to put an end. If the genocide of the Baloch people is not stopped immediately, it will have dangerous consequences for the world peace and stability.
