LAHORE: Frontier Corps Balochistan Inspector General (IG) Major General Saleem Nawaz on Sunday rejected foreign media reports that Mullah Omar and the central council of the Taliban were present in the province, a private TV channel reported on Sunday. The channel said Nawaz rejected the claims that the Taliban were operating from Quetta, calling the reports “baseless”. He said Pakistani authorities had effectively secured the Afghan border, but it was poorly managed on the other side. The FC IG added that the border had been completely sealed during the recent presidential election in Afghanistan. He said instead of taking effective security measures on their side, the Afghan authorities continued to blame Pakistan for alleged infiltration by the Taliban. daily times monitor
