ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that out of 416 missing people, 188 have been recovered while 228 are still missing.


Talking to media men following chairing a high level meeting in the interior ministry on missing people, the federal minister said that efforts were underway to recover or at least trace missing people. He said the law enforcing agencies have also been directed to pace up their efforts in locating the missing persons.

Provincial police chiefs and home secretaries also attended the meeting, in which the list of the missing persons was reviewed in detail.

He said the number of the missing in the lists received from Balochistan and other provinces was incorrect. "The law enforcement agencies have been directed to prepare the list," he said.

Several persons have left their homes in Balochistan and went Afghanistan for training and their names have also been added in the missing persons list, Malik said.

The minister also directed to establish special cells for missing persons.

Rehman Malik informed that more than 1500 families have been shifted to Afghanistan in the last 7 years, adding 10 teachers went to Afghanistan for training recently.

He warned those people who disrespected Pakistani flag and said that Pakistani people can understand how the enemy is working in our ranks. He said no one would be allowed to challenge the writ of the government and no one would be allowed to dishonor our national flag

Referring to Balochistan issue, the minister stated that the government was working on 14 point recommendation given by our parliamentarians aimed to solve the problems.

He said that there is consensus among the parliamentarians that rightful share of Balochistan‘s resources must be given to its people.

The minister categorically stated that the talk about greater Balochistan would not be tolerated.
