On April 21, 2015 Chinese President Xi Jinping announced $46 Billion for Pakistan China Economic Corridor. Both Chinese and Pakistani officials signed more than 50 agreements for CPEC.

Apart from same old rhetoric, this time Chinese govt. has made very strong commitment to invest in linking Gwadar port to China through railway lines and world class roads.
This idea was earlier proposed by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, during a visit to Pakistan in May 2013. However, both countries didn’t gain anything much till now.
Since 2014, Chinese govt. is emphasizing  more on “One Road, One Belt” diplomacy to connect China to the Middle East countries via Pakistan and Afghanistan.
During Joint-Session speech, CPEC agenda was on the top of the list. While other important issues like terrorism in Pakistan was also discussed.

But, right after the handshakes between Beijing and Islamabad on the agreement of development plans of Gwadar port and building infrastructure.

Security issues in southwestern province of Baluchistan have got media attention one more time, when a Baluchistan rebel group tried to attack at an airport in Gwadar district.
Two paramilitary soldiers and five Baluchistan rebels were killed in fierce gunbattles. The incident is the first clash, after the China announced $46 Billion CPEC project for Pakistan.
According to news reports, rebels fired mortar shells on the Airport traffic control tower on Monday, causing some damages. However none is reported to be injured.
Sarbaz Baloch, a spokesman for the Baloch Liberation Army rebel group, claimed responsibility for attack on the airport in a call to journalists.
However this is not the first time when BLA rebels tried to attack. They have blown up many gas-pipelines and attacked Chinese Engineers and workers several times.
Baluchistan is one of the most unstable regions of Pakistan, and lot of insurgency and rebellion activities are going on for several decades now.
Earlier, this month BLA insurgents have killed 20 Chinese construction workers in order to scare them off from the development site.
To keep the construction work going, Pakistan Army has decided to provide one special army division for the foreigners working in Baluchistan.
