Kalat Khan Convenes Balochistan Unity Conference In London - Ahmar Mustikhan

The Right Honorable Khan of Kalat, Mir Suleman Daud Ahmadzai, has invited Balochistan political leaders and activists for a brainstorming International Baloch Unity Conference in London in the second week of March.

The conference is aimed at discussing the current situation of Balochistan and to come up with recommendations and how to implement those recommendations in order to move forward with Balochistan national movement, according to Dr. Wahid Baloch, president of the Baloch Society of North America, who is the Khan’s spokesperson in the U.S.
“All stakeholders and political activists are requested to join, participate and share their thoughts and to be a part of the process,” Dr. Baloch said.

He said it is high time that Baloch must put their personal egos and differences aside and join hands for the greater interest of Balochistan.

“Balochistan is passing through its most critical time in its history. We have two choices left, either unite or perish,” he said.

The Khan of Kalat was the lead speaker in at least two conferences, one in Bangkok in February 2010 and the second in Washington DC last year. He also attended a conference in Berlin in summer last year.

Items on the agenda include bringing all Baloch Diaspora groups under one umbrella and to draft preliminary constitution of an independent Balochistan

The conference will also discuss how to approach the international community for help and seek U.N. intervention in Balochistan.

Another item on the agenda is to raise funds to finance these activities and Balochistan case at the International Court of Justice (I.C.J.) which is still on the ground without money.

A historic Baloch Jirga, or grand assembly, in September 2006 that was attended by all schools of Baloch political thought, gave the Khan of Kalat a mandate to take the Baloch case to the I.C.J.

“Our suffering people back home expect from us a realistic, mature and responsible behavior and we must not fall short of theirs expectations, hopes and dreams. Balochistan with its abundant Natural wealth is the answers of all of our problem,” Dr. Baloch said.

In the U.S., Dr. Baloch had been trying to raise the profile of Balochistan and has met with Vice President Joe Biden among other officials to apprise them of the situation in Balochistan.

The date of the conference is March 11 and the venue will be announced shortly.
