Raymond Davis
Raymond Davis an American, who killed a Punjabi in Lahore city of Pakistan in self defence, was arrested and imprisoned. He paid the blood money to the deceased’s family and was freed under Islamic law of ‘Qasas’. Qasas rule allows freeing a murder if the victim’s family forgives them.
Recently Iranian border guards entered East Baluchistan and killed a Baluch citizen named Saeed Rigi, and injured his brother by firing at their vehicle. Three members of the border guards were arrested by Pakistani authorities and a case was registered against them. These murders were freed on Saturday under the same ‘Qasas’ regulation.
The point is we all saw Pakistanis turned their world upside down over the freedom of Raymond Davis, but not a smallest complaint was heard or seen from Pakistanis against the murder of the Baluch citizen. How can a civil mind explain this?
