Brahumdagh Bugti Meets Kofi Annan In Geneva

Balochistan independence leader Brahumdagh Bugti met with with former secretary-general of the United Nations Kofi Annan and held a detailed discussion on the political and human rights situation in Balochistan.

Bugti has also held high-level meetings with Swiss officials since he arrived in Geneva in November to seek political asylum.

Pakistan's infamous Inter-Services Intelligence had given an Afghan journalist Nawab Momand 800,000 dollars to kill Bugti in Kabul.

Bugti is political heir and grandson of slain Baloch statesman Nawab Akbar Bugti, former governor and chief minister of Balochistan, who was killed in an army operation on August 26, 2006.

Brahumdagh Bugti is respected and admired by millions of Baloch all over the world, unlike his two first cousins Mir Aali Bugti and Shahzain Bugti, who are looked upon as showboys of different sections of Pakistani intelligence set-up..

Annan, like Bugt from Balochistan, is son of a tribal chief from Ghana.

Bugti's asylum application is now under process. In addition to his spouse, Bugti is accompanied by his two daughters, two sons and mother.

Former torture victim Munir Mengal, founder of Baloch Voice Foundation, said his foundation had helped organize the asylum petition of the young Baloch leader over a seven-month period
