Balochistan: Attack on Pakistani security forces, electric towers and gas pipelines continues

Occupied Balochistan: Gas pipeline was blown up by unknown militants in Pirko gas field area of Dera Bugti on Friday morning. According to the official sources that an explosive device was planted with gas pipeline of Well No 23 which is connected with Pirko to Sui purification plant that exploded with a big blast destroying the 8-inch diameter gas pipelines. Gas supply suspended to Sui gas Purification Plant from well no 23. Officials are preparing plan to repair it at the earliest to restore supply to Sui plant. Case has been registered against the unknown persons and investigation is under way.

Two killed, 3 hurt in sniper firing: Two people were killed and three others injured when a group of motorcyclists opened fire on the vehicles of Uch Gas Field near Sohbatpur in Jaffarabad district on Friday, police said Two vehicles carrying employees of Uch Gas Field were heading towards Dera Allahyar and when came under attack in Sohbatpur area. The assailants were six in number and on three motorcycles and they fled the scene after carrying out attack. Resultantly two employees Mohammad Anwar and Bagan Bugti died instantly while three others Mohammad Shoiab, Abbas Ali and Fida Hussain sustained serious bullet wounds. Police and Frontier Corps contingents reached the site after being informed about the incident and the forces threw a cordon in the area for manhunt. The deceased and injured were taken to hospital by paramilitary troops and rescue workers. According to eyewitnesses’ accounts, three people were killed and one of them was security personal. However, officials confirmed only two causalities. “A massive search has been mounted in the area and several people had been detained by security personnel,” sources said.

Security vehicle targeted in Quetta blast: A security vehicle was targeted in a blast that occurred in the Hazarganji area of Quetta on Saturday.

According to Express 24/7 correspondent, Mohammad Kazim, authorities said an improvised explosive device (IED) had been planted in a bicycle standing on the roadside and it was detonated when the security forces’ vehicle was by it.

No casualties were reported. Police cordoned off the area and started a search operation for the perpetrators.

Earlier this week, five security personnel, including an SHO, were shot dead by gunmen in Mach town of Bolan district. Later in the day, assailants also opened fire on a Frontier Corps vehicle and Assistant Commissioner Mach in Ab-e-Gum area.

Two electricity towers blown up in Bolan: Unknown men blew up two towers of 132 -KV transmission line in Aab-e-Gum area of Bolan at on Friday night.

Spokesman of the Quetta Electricity Supply Company (QESCO) Shafqat Ali told that unidentified men had planted an explosive devise with the 132-KV high transmission line, which was detonated blowing up the towers and suspending power supply to many parts of Balochistan.

The saboteur act would cause 120 to 140 MW power shortfall in Balochistan which has already been facing 500 MW electricity shortfall said the spokesman.

He said that a patrolling team of QESCO had already left for the damaged site: however the repair work would be started after security clearance.

Meanwhile, the law enforcers launched search operation in the area to arrest the accused.

(From previous)Gas pipeline, power pylon bombed in Balochistan: Unidentified armed men blew up a gas pipeline in Sohbatpur area while in another incident a power transmission line tower was slightly damaged in an attack in Quetta on Wednesday.

According to police sources, unidentified men attached explosives with the pipeline and detonated it with remote control.

Law enforcement agencies’ (LEAs) teams reached the blast site soon after the incident and put a cordon around it. The LEAs also launched a search operation to arrest the attackers. A team of engineers and technical staff started repair work on the damaged pipeline.

Separately, a power transmission line tower was slightly damaged in an attack in Kili Qambrani area of Quetta.

According to police sources, unidentified men placed explosives on a pylon of the main power transmission line, which damaged the tower slightly. (03/01/2011)
