Sweden Democrat calls for opponents to be 'shot' (22 Sep 10)
"The Sweden Democrats demand a current debate in parliament about violence-prone Islamic extremism. The party proposes that the debate, due to large public interest, be held as soon as possible," said the party, which won its first parliamentary seats in September.
Separately, newspaper Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) reported on Tuesday that Alexandra Brunell, secretary to Sweden Democrat party leader Jimmie Åkesson, has come under fire from other political leaders after tweeting the word "Finally" on her Twitter account shortly after suicide bomb attacks that took place on Saturday in Stockholm.
Brunell, a 20-year-old model who also operates the blog ParliamentPrincess.se, followed up her first tweet with, "is it now one can say 'what was it we said'?"
Sweden Democrat MP William Petzäll echoed his colleague's sentiments on Sunday evening, tweeting, "I hate to say this, but what was it that we said?," according to SvD.
Åkesson said that Brunell's statements should not be over-analysed and denied that the Sweden Democrats would welcome a terrorist attack.
However, he refused to distance himself from the comments either, instead saying he hoped they would spark a debate, a wish he echoed Tuesday in the Riksdag.
The Sweden Democrats' urging for debate on Islamic extremism came just days after a man strongly believed to have been Taymour Abdelwahab carried out the first-ever suicide bombing in Sweden.
He was carrying a cocktail of explosives and is believed to have mistakenly set off a small explosion near a crowded pedestrian street. He killed himself before he could carry out what, according to the lead prosecutor on the case, appears to have been a mission to murder "as many people as possible."
Abdelwahab, who was known for his outspoken views in favour of violent jihad, was the only person killed when some of the explosives he was carrying detonated, but two others were injured when his car exploded nearby minutes earlier.
"There is today a large public interest in a debate around these questions. People want to know how we as politicians look at Islamic extremism and what the preventive work looks like," Åkesson said in the statement.
In addition to the bombing, several recent events made such a debate pertinent, he said, pointing to last week's jail sentences handed down to two Swedes for "planning terrorist crimes" in Somalia and to an intelligence report to be published on Wednesday about violent Islamic extremists in Sweden.
"It is my hope that we can have this debate in parliament before Christmas," Åkesson said.
Separately, Brunell used her blog on Monday to apologise for her Twitter postings, calling the incident an "important lesson, but rather hard-earned."
"As pathetic as some of the reactions have been, it was equally thoughtless of me to express myself so sarcastically about the terrible things that happened this weekend," she wrote.
"What have I learned from this? That it is foolish to try to be sarcastic in writing. That sensitive issues must be handled with extreme care. That there are many who are out to 'misunderstand,'" she added.
Eric Myrin, the Sweden Democrats' press secretary, emphasised in the SvD report that Brunell's role in the party is not a political one and that she made the comments as a private person.
Meanwhile, Green Party spokesman Peter Eriksson found the party's attitude to her remarks irresponsible.
"It's a 'finally' even from Åkesson and I think that it is a shocking starting point, that one longs after having increased conflicts and antagonisms in society to benefit from it politically. The threat of terrorist attacks has been in Sweden, we have known this all along," he told SvD.

Did they ask for similar meeting after Malmo shooting?!

i strongly condemn this type of bombing in Sweden. 500000 inoocent civilians an Iraq and 50000 in Afghanistan have been died, who is killing them americans. would u people ever bother to have a debate. now some people ll come n they ll use abbusive language in response of my comment. is this not terrorism?20:54 December 14, 2010 by qed16
Yes, let's debate which method should be used to deport them all back to their stone age hellholes...By train or by boat?
21:01 December 14, 2010 by Iraniboy
@chemist007Exactly. We are all human and death of a human should be condemned no matter in Sweden, US or Iraq!
@qed16
Terrorists shouldn't be deported. They should be brought to justice and stay in jail forever. There are another dangerous people apart from terrorists and they are those who can't distinguish terrorists from non-terrorists simply because they have same color of skin and hair and they ask for similar recipe for both!!
21:41 December 14, 2010 by unseen
@qed16,the other day i asked why is that connected to Iraq? you simply answered the guy was born in Iraq!!!! so, one man's act is a nation act to you? no worries, you have the right to see things the way you like, and i have no control over that.
those who legally live in Sweden have as much right as you, if you even live in Sweden, to live, work and study me included, and they are not waiting for your word to be forced out!
your words hurt me like hell, yet i haven't done anything to deserve this treatment and i am not willing to do so.
Iraq, might be a hellhole these days, to you and to many others, as many other countries/nations when had their hard times...
so, I being Iraqi promise you that this country will get back on its feet. lots of good Iraqis are working and doing their best to bring their country back to civilization, sooner or later we will.
as much as your attitude hurts i still respect it. by the end of the day as we Iraqis sow so shall we reap.

The terrorists should be tried as war criminals. Give them a fair trial, and then hang them. child chemist007 - you are an idiot. I hope they take your chemistry set away.21:54 December 14, 2010 by Boyfriend
The Malmo shooter was not a Muslim, he probably a Christian and Christian never this credit of being called terrorists. Media is picking on Islam these days.Terrorist is a term which is used only and only for Muslims. The Muslims civilians who are dying by these NATO . Never gets any debate also these wrong doing of western by invading Muslims countries and israelis who killing civilians never get any westerns attention.
Who you Gonna debate? THESE DAYS A NON MUSLIM who do not know even more than a page about Islam is acting like Islamic scholars and teaching us about Islam.
Why SD do not want debate over Malmo shooter? for them it is ok if a white kill the dark haired guys no problem.
22:03 December 14, 2010 by mkvgtired
@chemist007, actually there is constant debate over Iraq and Afghanistan. Just mentioning this in a thread about terrorist bombings is a poor attempt at trying to justify them. And no, "abusive language" is not terrorism. Flying planes into 110 story buildings is terrorism; blowing up commuter trains, subways, and shoppers is terrorism; shooting indiscriminately at people walking in a crowded urban area is terrorism; killing an entire elementary school full of children is terrorism. The fact that you put abusive language in the same category as these terrible acts shows what a cultural relativist simpleton you are.@Boyfriend, "A NON MUSLIM who do not know even more than a page about Islam". Obviously this does not apply to all or even most Muslims, but a debate is necessary. Regardless of what is written have you ever heard the saying, "actions speak louder than words"? Because of the heinous acts we have seen over the past several decades in the name of Islam, it behooves us to discuss why. The old excuse of supporting Israel does not cut it. Sweden hardly can be considered a supporter of Israel and they have a marginal amount of troops in the Middle East (I think 400). If the bomber wanted to damage a country with a ME presence he could have tried to attack the UK where he went to school. Many followers of Islam would like to overthrow Western governments, and it is our job to keep those who think that way out of our societies.

Nobody's talking about skin color. We are talking about removing a violent ideology from amongst our children. We offered it a home in time of war. We offered it's children food and money when their fathers wouldn't work. We offered them education when they were cavemen.
Of course they gave to, they offered murder and enslavement to Sweden, terrorism in payment for kindness, Look at the posts above here, those are the non-extremists justifying this horrible act.
The real debate is bus or boat, how do we get rid of this problem peacefully, before they try to murder our children again.

I'm wondering what would have been the elections' result if Sweden was brought to islamic terror a few months earlier... and for the angry muslims commenting here take it easy its not your country... YET. Don't be so desperate ; )Regards,
22:14 December 14, 2010 by hunnysnowbee
@BoyfriendYou have never heard of the IRA then? None of them were muslims!
22:24 December 14, 2010 by TwoToTango
I don't get why people want Islam out. I consider that a failure. All that will will amount to is hitting an obstacle and running away like a bunch of pussies. If Swedish values are superior then victory will be when mosques are built with Swedish architectural design, when swedish imams all speak perfect Swedish and their first name is Lars and their last name is a swedified version of Achmed that can barely be traced to its arabic origin.22:48 December 14, 2010 by svenskamerikansk
So if i read The Local's rationale for closing comments correctly, comments are open on this article because The Local staff wants to encourage hate speech against SD while discouraging them against a group they favor? That's so lame and cowardly.22:52 December 14, 2010 by Syftfel
Jimmie is correct! High time for an open and honest debate. Let's talk the ruth! And let's not hold back to politically correct gobbledigook! And everyone is invited except the social dems.23:08 December 14, 2010 by khurram.k

@svenskamerikanskThat's basically what I deduct. I think my time of 6 years reading the local is done. Google translate does the work, and often more intelligible sentences.
Toss TL into the flaming pile of junk journalism. Sad, because I thought you were different.......
I'm sure this comment will be edited or removed. So long TL community, I pray for Sweden to wake up before it's too late....

@ unseenI have no problem with anyone's skin color. I have a problem with evil ideologies. Islam is a stone age death cult that needs to go the way of polio. It has no place in the civilized world. I would say the same of Catholisism, but they're not killing anyone anymore. Just molesting kids like they're Afghanis. ;)
In all seriousness, there's a reason the Muslim world is completely backwards. It's the cultural backwardness of the religion that keeps the people ignorant, the women repressed and the blame ALWAYS pointed outward. We don't need that here. Secular Arabs, Turks, Persians you can stay. Muslims, go home. Islam is a cultural cancer that brings only strife.
Secondly, I am not unsympathetic to the Iraqi people who've borne the brunt of an unjustifiable war... Iraq was probably better off under Sadaam than under Bush. I protested against the Iraq war, FYI...
Regardless, Sweden is not the US as @chemist seems to think...

I agree with wenddiverI have never seen a Christian terrorist (I have heard of catholic ones)
Christian terrorist is an oxymoron!
violent people whom ever they are need to be exported to a place where they can slog it out and self exterminate in peace!

I think that the fact that the Sverige demokraterna got into the parliament has to do with the fact that Swedes always hide things under the carpet, not confront or address problems. Regardless of what the outcome would be. Some people got tired of that and this is what happens then, the extreme right gets power.Even though I don't personally share their vision, I think that it is time for Sweden to grow up in terms of debating and facing problems.
GO AND TALK, period.
After all a group of society voted for them.
I don't think they will accomplish anything anyhow, but if this is democracy and if this freedom of speech... talk.
01:54 December 15, 2010 by jimmyjames
Sweden and the rest of the non-muslim world ( muslims are not just attacking Western Christian Democracies. This point is extremely important.) must come to realize and accept the fact that there is AMONGST ALL MUSLIMS ( the degrees vary) to attack the infidels and CONVERT, ENSLAVE, OR KILL every single one. The problem, especially in the politically correct liberal western chrictian democracies is that they can not get their minds around such a concept. The West especially has become so secular for so long that they can not comprhend the TOTAL COMMITMENT of the jihadists and al muslims. The Koran repeatedly mentions the need to convert non-muslims. Enslave non-muslims when possible ( it is worth noting that the only areas in the world where slavery is actively practiced is in muslim areas). If conversion and enslvement are not possible and/or practicle then muslms are commanded to kill non-muslims. These are facts and have been known and practiced for centuries. DO NOT BELIEVE ME. PLEASE GO OUT AND BUY A KORAN FOR YOURSELF. The reality is that non-muslims the world over are AT WAR with muslims, ALL MUSLIMS, and we ( non-muslims) must counter all acts of terror just like Israel ( I am not a Zionist or Jewish supporter); immediately, massively, and seriously. We must stop allowing NEW muslim immigration ( we have more than enough to be politically correct and diverse { what a pathetic suicidal mind-set} ). If we do not, in 25 more years the troubles we have now will be nothing in comparrison to the daily suicide bombers we will experiance.02:21 December 15, 2010 by gorgepir
It seems as if everyone is ignoring the elephant in the room to feel good about their ideologies. The terrorist was a completely ok person when he was in Sweden. The Swedish culture obviously was good for him, as he hanged out with friends and had no problem drinking alcohol. It was when he went to England where he was exposed to the SD-like mentality where he became radical. If anything, this incident should prove the Swedish system is working and the right-wing SD-like system that conservatives in the UK and tea-party followers in the US advocate will only increase terrorist activities.
03:05 December 15, 2010 by mkvgtired
The mosque he went to in the UK is known for producing extremists. I think anyone with half a functioning braincell can see that it wasnt the "SD-like mentality" that caused this loser to become an extremist. And the "SD-like mentality" IS part of the "Swedish System" considering SWEDES VOTED FOR THEM. Thats how a democracy works. Keep looking the other way. I guess if you stop letting "Swedes" go to the US and UK to go to school this problem will disappear.08:00 December 15, 2010 by inzaghi
The swedish ,,justice" minister is chasing Assange for not wearing a condom..At the same time Sweden is infested with 500000 violent creatures who are worshipping a pedophile and hate EVERYTHING about your way of life ,except social security payments.
Wake up Sweden , you can't ALL be that stupid !
08:01 December 15, 2010 by qed16
@ JimmyJamesAbsolutely. Just go and read the horrors they have planned for us in the Koran.
"Allah is an enemy to unbelievers." - Sura 2:98
According to their book we are their enemy and whether we like it or not, they are ours.
I wish them no harm, but the Muslim cultural invasion must be stopped or they will drag Europe down into the depths of backwardness, repression and violence of their homelands with their stone aged beliefs. It's already started.
The kind hearted naivete of the Swedish people has looked the other way, but hopefully the latest developments will wake people up to the bigger picture. Islam is the enemy of modern civilization and is fundamentally opposed to the values of the West. They are not compatible and policy makers must recognize this fact.
Tolerance of an intolerant hate cult is not any country's obligation.
08:58 December 15, 2010 by blursd
Doesn't anyone else find it the least bit strange that the Local has completely banned comments on all the articles dealing with the bombings ... except when that article has to deal with the Sweden Democrats. So the Local doesn't have any problem with people exercising their free speech to bash the Sweden Democrats, but are completely opposed to anyone using their free speech to possible say anything negative about Islam or immigrants. Way to set a double standard ... shear hypocrisy.
For the record I don't like the Sweden Democrats, but if people should be free to express their opinions about them then they should also have the freedom to comment on any topic regardless of the subject.
09:13 December 15, 2010 by flintis
@georgepir #The terrorist was a completely ok person when he was in Sweden# Yes he was that ok he tried to murder 100's of innocent people IN Sweden. You obviously don't know much about life in the UK, so before you go spouting about SD-like mentality get your facts right. His actions had nothing to do with politics but with the twisted beleifs of an archaic religion & no doubt had been brainwashed by his peers.
09:36 December 15, 2010 by RobinHood
Debate, about any subject, is never bad. Those that voted the SD into Parliament deserve a debate on Islamic extremism. The SD's should get their wish and be able to present the views of their electorate. Everyone else should just shut up and listen to them. That is how democracy works.09:44 December 15, 2010 by wenddiver
@Da Goat-Thanks.I personally am going to find somebody who wants to clean the cavemen out of Sweden and send them home, then I.m going to support them in every way I can legally. Swedish children and women need to be protected and it's up to us Men to do it.
I don't care about anybodies race, but when your ideology is murder and enslavement you have to go, there is no place in the Western countries for your ideology.
09:57 December 15, 2010 by djmarko
If the SD is a serious party, they should have asked for dialogue when the malmo shooter was killing immigrants, that to me is a terrorist attack but i guess the victims were immigrants so to the SD party, it fits in line with their ideology, now this lunatic that tried to murder people happens to be an immigrant, so now the SD calls for debate, that sounds a bit like double standards if you ask me?? Terrorism has not got any skin colour, just ask the IRA, Basque, Thank goodness the would be sucide bomber only killed himself, it would have been far worse, and yes we need dialogue to keep Sweden safe, the US needs to stop the phony war in Iraq and Afghanistan and let everyone live in peace!!!10:06 December 15, 2010 by hammad674
Post 29# QebI guess that the discussion should be out of Religion. But now you have made some point from the Holy QURAN then i think i must clerify some facts.
I am really sorry to say that you have only taken the part from the QURAN of your interest. If you really want to give reference of Holy QURAN, just read the whole scenario in which something is said. Holy QURAN Condemn killing of innocent people, and it is said in Holy QURAN that if you kill any innocent man rehgradless of (Religion,Race, Color) without reason, you kill the whole human kind. And he/she can-not be a good Muslim at all.
However i would say that Holy QURAN Encourage Jihad, but first you must understand the meaning of Jihad. Jihad referes to the Term which you are forced to do against cruelty. For example if there is cruelty and war imposed on People they must do Jihad against them (other Party). (For Example: If there is War in Palestine which is imposed by Israil, The Muslims are encourage to do Jihad against Israel. But it doesnt mean that they are encouraged to kill innocent people in their country or other country, But they must do Jihad against people who are in War against them ( For Example- Some Emperor or King with their force) Not the public. Go and read some History about Islam first. in which condition Jihad is necessory ? or what is mean by Jihad ? Wht circumstances leads to Jihad Etc etc. And Also read what Muslim did when they win agaisnt someone (in War),,, Did they kill the Public ? No. but they give them free life, whatever they wish to do with religios freedem. Islam never encourages Terrorism. Islam never spread wih Sword but due to its Morality. And you can see that it is the fastest growing religion in the world, even in Europ (The people with power of freedom of Speech, and not forced to accept Islam) I am not a Lawyer for Islam, but i consider it necessory to make your Information Correct. And sorry for my bad spelling.
