UK: Sindhi and Baloch activist protested against human rights violations in Sindh and Balochistan

London 08/005/2011: A large number of Baloch, Sindhi and other Human rights activists held a protest demonstration against abductions and extra-judicial killings of Baloch and Sindhi activists by Pakistani intelligence agencies here on Sunday in front of British Prime Minister office houses, 10 Downing Street, London.

The World Sindhi Congress, The International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, and BHRC (UK) had given the call for protest. Activists from Baloch Raaje Zrombesh, Balochistan Peoples Party and Balochistan Liberation Organisation also joined the protest to show their solidarity with the families of the victims of Pakistan state violence in Balochistan.

Addressing the protest rally leaders of the aforementioned parties called on International Community and the British government to put sanctions on Pakistan the gross human rights violations in Balochistan. Commenting on Bin Laden’s arrest the Baloch and Sindhi leaders said that for years they’ve been telling the International Community that Pakistan was a breeding place and safe haven for Islamic extremists but Western powers paid no attention to their concerns, however, the arrest of Bin Laden in a highly militarised zone and right under the nose of Pakistan military has confirmed their concerns.

The protesters said that International Community must immediately intervene in Balochistan and pressurise Pakistan to stop the ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan. They also urged the International Human Rights Organisations to play their due role for the safe and early release of thousands of enforced disappeared Baloch and Sindhi activists.

A petition was also submitted to the British Prime Minister by World Sindhi Congress, International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons and BHRC (UK) asking the British government to stop supporting Pakistan:

Sindhi and Baluch people, in the light of your commitment to human rights, request you to press upon Pakistan government:

• to stop committing gross human rights violations including target killing and kill and dump policy of Baloch and Sindhi people
• to release all the enforced disappeared Baloch and Sindhi political leaders and workers

We also would like to take this opportunity to request you to stop military, economic and moral support to Pakistan which is using policy of state terrorism against Sindhi and Baloch people, until they comply with the UN charter of human rights and stop atrocities against Sindhi and Baloch people.
