Widespread protests in Balochistan against killing of BSO activists

Occupied Balochistan: QUETTA: A complete shutter down and wheel jam strike was observed on Saturday in Khuzdar, Nal, Awaran and Turbat protesting against the killing of two Baloch students in Khuzdar on Friday night.

Both the students were shot and killed by sharp shooters in Khuzdar overnight provoking another round of protest in parts of Central Balochistan.

Enraged persons set the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office on fire in Khuzdar and also attacked the Irrigation office and Public Health office ransacking the furniture.

All the records and identity cards were destroyed in NADRA office. The strike call was given by Baloch Students Organization (BSO) and supported by other Baloch nationalist parties.

All the shopping and trading centers remained closed for the day and most of the streets and townships wore deserted look with very thin traffic in Khuzdar, Turbat, Awaran and Nal. Majority of the private educational institutions were closed and attendance was also thin in government offices.

In Turbat police resorted to baton-charge on protestors while they burnt tyres on Airport Road. The protestors also burnt tyres and erected barricades on various roads blocking the vehicular traffic. Two PTCL cabinets were also set on fire disrupting the telecommunication system in Malikabad. Security was tight where strike was observed. Police and Frontier Corps patrolled the area to deal with any situation.

Shutter-down strike in Khuzdar against student’s killing

QUETTA: A complete shutter-down strike was observed on Saturday in Khuzdar, Awaran, Nal, and some other parts of Balochistan to protest the target killing of two Baloch students in Khuzdar late on Friday. The strike call was given by the Baloch Students Organisation (BSO) and supported by other provincial parties. Enraged protesters torched the offices of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the irrigation department and a public health office in Khuzdar, destroying valuable record. Business activity across Baloch dominant areas in the province remained suspended throughout the day and a majority of commercial centres and shops remained closed due to the strike. All private and government educational institutions were also closed for the day. Protesters also burnt tyres to block various roads of Turbat. However, police baton-charged the protesters on the Airport Road, making way for the traffic’s resumption. Also, unidentified people torched two PTCL line cabins in Malikabad, suspending the telecommunication network in the area.
